R. Kelly, P. Diddy, Ronald Isley and the Isley Brothers, Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly, India.Arie, the O'Jays, the Four Tops, the Whispers, the Temptations, and the Gap Band are the acts announced for the third annual Detroit Music Festival, set for August 1 and 2 at Comerica Park.
The lineup was recently announced at a special press conference that also revealed the Detroit Music Festival's partnership with the Cincinnati Music Festival.
That popular July event was cancelled in 2002 due to ongoing civic unrest and boycotts following the fatal shooting of an unarmed African-American man by Cincinnati police in April of 2001. The festival eventually lost its long-running Coors sponsorship. Organizers announced plans to move the Cincinnati festival to downtown Detroit in February of this year.
More artists are expected to be added to the DMF's two-day festivities. A number of field tickets will be available for free to military personnel. Tickets go on sale May 2. More info is available at detroitmusicfestival.net.
Detroit Music Festival organizers are also encouraging attendees to take part in a stunt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest total number of people participating in a line dance.

Other than R. Kelly that show is a show worth going to. Though I think the majority of that tour will be in NY at Radio City a week (to the day) later.

Hey self...I heard the RCMH show will have The Temptations, O'Jays, Whispers, and The Four Tops on it. I wish that show would go to Westbury Music Fair as well. All of the acts on that Detroit show are worth the price to see, WOW, everyone there will have a great time, I'm sure. ;D

Just thought about this, wouldn't Detroit be a great place for this board members to meet up for a concert. Walking the streets of Hitsville, seeing our group in concert there. Just something for all to think about for next year. It's too close to plan for this year in Detroit. I must admit, I've never been to Detroit, so it will be a first for me.

Fantastic suggestion, AKA, what more perfect place to go to see the Temptations.
I wonder if the museum still has Cholly's footsteps on the floor for people to learn the steps to "My Girl" (I think that's what article said),
I know Berry Gordy is working on building a new type of interactive museum, plus expanding the area around Hitsville to create the Motown atmosphere. They were supposed to decide on the architect this spring.
