Twisting and tasting Taste of Minnesota moves this year to the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul from its longtime home on the State Capitol grounds, and the festival will introduce a special oldies stage on the south end of the Wabasha Street Bridge. Chubby Checker will be the stage's headliner and do "The Twist" on July 6. Other oldies performers announced Thursday: July 3, The Turtles; July 4, The Temptations Revue; July 5, Mitch Ryder (an old friend of Taste organizer Ron Maddox) & the Detroit Wheels and The Buckinghams. Main stage entertainers will be announced soon. The Taste festival runs July 2-6, with most of the action on Harriet Island. An art show will be held at Kellogg Park downtown and the connecting Wabasha Street Bridge will be lined with Linus statues.
