The Temptations include, from left, Harry McGillberry, Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson, Otis Williams and Barrington Henderson. Caesars Tahoe Published 2:15 AM PST Sunday, Apr. 27, 2003 Nevada Gambol: Temptations keeping up with the timesBy Mel Shields -- Bee Correspondent Our challenge," says Otis Williams, one of the original Temptations, "is to live in the present while respecting the past. Our past is filled with riches only a fool would discard, but we also understand that for a group with history, no matter how glorious that history might be, reinvention is the name of the game." A past filled with riches, indeed. The Temptations have four Grammy Awards, six platinum albums and 13 gold albums to their credit, all earned since that initial 1964 recording session of "The Way You Do the Things You Do" with writer-producer Smokey Robinson. Follow- up hits included "My Girl," "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" and "I Can't Get Next to You," all establishing them as the definitive singers of the Motown sound. The reinvention is important, of course. Williams refers to the May release of the new Temptations CD, "Duets." The group may be a part of recording history, but that history is hardly ancient as evidenced by its 2003 Grammy for best traditional rhythm and blues performance. Williams joins current Temptations Terry Weeks, Barrington Henderson, Ron Tyson and Harry McGilberry at the Silver Legacy for two performances at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. This is hardly the Temptations' first appearance in the area. They've played just about every major venue offered in Northern Nevada. They will be preceded this weekend by a newcomer, however -- comedian Carlos Mencia.... Courtesy of The Sacramento Bee www.sacticket.com/reno_tahoe/story/6526580p-7477345c.html

This what I've been saying the whole time. The group has a wonderful history which has been wonderful to them, but the tempts are artists and artists (the best) stay current until they are done. The tempts legacy is not just about older material, but it's about new material. It's about moving forward. that is huge.

That's wonderful news. I didn't realize that the cd would be released in May! I wonder if Luther Vandross is on the cd I thought I read somewhere that he was supposed to appear on it.

Self, I read in an article that it was supposed to be RECORDED in May, but who knows?
Kim it would be WONDERFUL if they managed to record something w/Luther before his stroke. ............ and of course, obviously, it wold be even more so if he was able to recover enough to record something with them after. We can say a prayer I guess.

Well, if they are recording in May, then maybe that's why Bo wasn't released. His voice does well on the albums and they have had good recording success with him on the albums. Seems, like a smart thing to do, if they are trying to come up with a formula for thier recent success. Whether or not the formula is based on anything substantial, it seems like he may certainly be apart of thier formula for recent success. hmmm.
