Off the bat, it wouldn't be hard for me to take sides on this issue if I were Tom, even knowing the very little that I know. My money is gone and I ain't making no mo'! That's all I need to know. ;D

Well he should be talking to Berry I mean afterall they were all making the same amount of money. It's what you do with the money that counts.

I'm finding out that the "Fly Jock" does a lot of good things with his foundation and the money that it raises. He's coming to the capital city next month to raise money for my school (which so desperately needs it).

Have you ever been to one of his Sky Shows? They are a blast! I always try to go when he comes to town. I don't agree with a lot of things Tom says (his comments about Barbershop etc,) but I do respect him. And I listen to "It's Your World" every day! LOL!! ;D

I'd go if my mother went, but she says they start too early for her. ;D Plus, he only comes this way about once a year, I think, and that's usually when the Capital City Classic is going on (Jackson State vs. Alcorn).
I love that... when I get a chance to listen to it. I used to, during the summer when I was riding with my mother to my gramma's house in the mornings, but now it comes on when I'm in class. I need to start going to his site to get the recaps and stuff.

Kim,baby I have stated to you over and over again what happened on that tour! Don't be in denial! Why is it that when someone tells the truth about O,you call it "hateing"? It's the truth, plain & simple! O can say what he wants about anyone and when they return the favor, you're cryin FOUL ? Come On ! Get Real ! Kikiaj,he might have been talkin' about O's boys. They might stand a chance in a singoff with N.E. ! But if Johnny Gill gets the lead........ Otis might have a problem ! N.E would have to take notes if Tom Joyner was talking about Dennis! Johnny Gill and all. N.E would find out fast that they "can't stand the rain" . Again ,PAY ATTENTION! Listen good, The O'jays and The Dramatics found out that they couldn't take the pressure of following the Review,so they acted like spoiled brats and tried to end their set before it was time on a couple of dates on the tour! Ain't Otis's fault ! I'll let you know when he's to blame ! ;D Trust me ! Dennis& the Review tore those two groups up...NATURALLY ! I saw the look on Eddie Levert's face,he knew that he would have to WORK to get past the Review. I told him so. Now do y'all get it ? You won't ask me that question again will you? I lost count of how many times y'all asked me the same question .

Mike I think you are the one with the hatred....Let's see someone post a picture of the Temptations and they say how gorgeous they look and immediately you are on the defensive about Otis. Then someone says that The Temptations are more polished than the Review and you become on the defensive about Otis. Let's be real here I know that those brothers, O'Jays, The Dramatics and The Temptations Review wanted to make paper last year. I can't see that grown men (who have toured with groups during their heydays) refused to go on tour because The Review was showing them up. They weren't selling tickets. The first leg of the tour sold in some venues and didn't sell in other venues by the time that April rolled around they had to cancel even more shows. They were supposed to pick back up after the cruise but the tickets weren't moving. Hence cancellation. And as far as asking about Berry IRLM and I were talking about something else. But of course you and your OTIS HATING RADAR went off and immediately you are on the defensive. I guess it's okay to give The Review props just as long as you are not giving The Temptations any props. That's cool I know where you stand and I'm through with it. I think that both groups deserve kudos but that's me if your hatred for Otis is that strong that you have to tear him down every chance you get then that's on you.

kim-how do you really feel ? ;D
mikey is not an otis hater- he includes otis in the hof 6- he doesn't like the lineup of otis' group because 90% of what made the tempts famous was singing and dancing, and maybe 10% was eye candy. the current guys are nice hard working guys but otis keeps the name but mike feels not the quality of the classics, whereas when you see dennis, you at least hear a man who sang on cloud 9, papa, etc, and david sea, who sang with eddie, david, and dennis.
i like both . i would go to see both. i would go for the music and dancing. my eyes would be wide open.

Well how does Ron fit into that category? I mean afterall he sang with 3 HOF members and he has been with The Temptations for 20 years now I think he has proven to be more than just "eye candy". And besides I thought David Sea starting singing with the group after David Ruffin died? And where is it written that you can't be handsome and sing well? Dennis was good looking, Eddie was gorgeous, Paul was handsome and sexy, Otis was handsome Melvin was nice looking. If you support Dennis and The Review more power to you I'm glad that Brother Dennis is working again. I'm not going to cut them down everytime someone mentions them in any post. I have only heard the group on cd. I can't comment on their live performances and even if I didn't like them I still don't see the need to cut them up to pieces every chance I get. But hey that's me.

ron's cool. i like ron tyson. nothing against good looking people singing, that's how i got my 200 women!

What I don't understand is one: How and why are we bashing either group or anybody who has been in the Otis group or any other re-creation of the Temptations?
Two: The Lead singers as we know them from the classic era are dead. Only Dennis remains. I have never heard Ron, or Glenn say they were better or even as good as Eddie. I can't speak for Damon cause I don't know him. The two I know idolized Eddie and it seems that here is the only place where dislike rears its ugly head.
Three: Somehow this continues to be some kind of competition between Otis and Dennis as singers. THere is none. NONE! They sing different parts and played different roles.
Four: None of us know all the business problems that exisited between Otis and the people who worked for him. Even I admit that the majority of the fault seems to lie with Otis. But how many disgruntled employees leave a situation and have many good things to say about their former employer. Not many. Yet it seems that no matter how bad it was they all want to remembered as Temptations which says to me that it wasn't that bad being one or that their opinion of themselves as solo artists was a little higher than the general public's.
Five: Otis won a legal court battle over the use of the name Temptations. That's it. Until something different happens, his group is the Temptations like or not. Otis continued long before there was a review, Emporers of Soul, a Richard Group, a Glenn group even before David Eddie and Dennis got together, Otis went on!You don't have to go see them or buy their music but they are the Temptations.Calling Otis fat won't change that. Dennis and Otis have a body size that's pretty much indicative of their ages. Could they be in better shape? Sure! Does it matter? Hell no! They are still great performers.
I went to see the review because of Dennis Edwards. I went with all review lovers and I had a great time. No one chided me because I like Otis group. So why are people who haven't seen both doing it here? Let Mike speak for himself, suk. He can say what he wants about anything else. Let him speak for himself here. I wouldn't want you to get caught in the cross fire.
I believe that there is room for both groups. We can't tell either what to perform and how to perform it. We can wish but that's about it. I still say go to an Otis show and see for yourself if they can sing or not. Ron Tyson is as much a Temptation as anybody who has ever been one. 20 years counts for something I would say. That's longer than David And Eddie. What makes you think that Ron has not had some of the same problems as those two and chose the legacy of the group and being in the group instead of leaving? PERSONAL& BUSINESS PROBLEMS aside, David and Eddie could have stayed for twenty years if they had wanted to. Do you think for a minute that if they wanted to stay they couldn't have? Kind of like what David said in Street Gold about the Limo and the others being mad at him for having it. He said they could have rode with him if they wanted to. He and Eddie could have stayed if they wanted to.
None of that changes what any of them mean to us when it comes to the music. I don't know anybody who hasn't had business or personal problems in their life. Sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't. I don't hate on Eddie and David cause they left. And I'm sure as hell not going to hate on Otis just cause he's still here!
P.S. Who the hell is Tom Joyner? I love his shows but he ain't ever sang a note on nobody's record. I don't care what he thinks about Otis or Dennis. This was a money issue with him and if he invested in a business venture that failed, suck it up and go on. If you couldn't afford to participate then keep your money in your pocket cause there is no guarantee that you will succeed in this line of work. He knows that!

Let's drink to your post ABA! Anyway I would pay to see The Temptations, Review, certainly Ali and The Emperors of Soul. All I'm saying is that it is unfair to speak about a group that you have never heard nor seen before. I've heard the Review on cd and Dennis and David sounded great. I can't comment on their live act because I've never seen it before. I have heard The Temptations on cd and in person and I love them what can I say. I would like to see Ali perform live again and maybe I will get the chance to comment on him as well.

Aba21 - u da MAN!! You put those thoughts together beautifully!! I have not had the privilege of seeing the Review live yet. I realize that Dennis, David Sea and the others are great singers - so I believe that they would put on a great show. I have seen Otis' group several times... and I KNOW they put on a great show. Ron has definitely earned his title as a true Temptation. He has sung with Dennis, Richard, Melvin, and Otis. Yes, I count Richard as a true Temptation as well. The guys in Otis' group are good looking... have great voices... and can dance their butts off. That's what the Temptations have always been known for. So they are keeping the legacy alive. And... They keep Otis young ;D ... and there is NOTHING wrong with that.
