Thats how I feel about them too. I don't consider the 4 Seasons Doo_Wop Before "DooWop" was coined, a lot of it was called harmony singing, which opens the field to a great number of groups and artists who made their living on a strong lead singer and strong, intricate background harmonies. When that definition is applied, the great Motown groups also fall into it.

When that definition is applied, the great Motown groups also fall into it. As you stated it is dependent on what definition you use. I would not put the Motown group as Do-Wop although I believe that they are a product of that era. Motown created their own distinct sound....

Early Manhattens could also be included.............songs like, I'm The One Love Forgot and When We Were Made As One fell close to DOo-Wop and were songs that many of my peers sang on the corner growing up. I Call It Love and I Wanna Be were two song I remember taking part in myself....................LOL

I concur...Aba we used to sing "When we were made as one" on the corner....the good old days A lot of people don't know those Manhattens..............they came in on the Kiss & Say Goodbye Manhattens and they missed all the good stuff to me! ;D There was nothing wrong with those Manhattens either though!

Ken-du, that story about the nun was funny. ;D Dedicated To The One I Love, Tonight's The Night, and Mama Said by the Shirells. Our group also sang Blue Holiday by them.
