Uh ............ last time I listened to "America's Top 10" the pop singles chart still mattered.

Uh ............ last time I listened to "America's Top 10" the pop singles chart still mattered. Not to REAL music listeners.

What I meant to say was that the target audience of Tempts records has been R&B fans, and this has pretty much been the trend from the mid-70's onward. Whether or song makes a dent in crossover or not is not reflective of its success. If it went top 20 crossover, then yes, but otherwise, R&B charting should be the gage.
It's nice if the musically illiterate (teeny bop / pop) fans catch on, but their reaction is not the judge of what is good music or not.

One more quip about this album's uniqueness. It's the only one on which the lineup features the 5 guys with the most tenure. "Back To Basics" had most of the songs with this lineup except for the 1 or 2 with Ali. And I believe "Special" had one track too.
Dennis - lead, Ron - alto and tenor, Richard - tenor, Otis - baritone, Melvin - bass.

A lot of times..some don't know that they are even listening to R&B.

They were? I think we may be over-romanticizing things a bit there.

YEAH I GOT "TOGETHER AGAIN" ON TAPE---LAST TEMPS ALBUM WITH DENNIS EDWARDS---HE ONLY STAYED WITH THE GROUP FOR 2 YEARS BEFORE THEY RE-HIRED ALI-OLLIE WOODSON. THIS WAS MADE DURING THE "BLACK POP" PERIOD. WHAT I MEANT WAS R&B ARTISTS LIKE MJ AND HIS SISTER JANET, LIONEL RICHIE, WHITNEY, PRINCE, NEW EDITION, AND OTHERS CROSSING OVER TO THE POP CHARTS. DON'T GET ME WRONG--AIN'T NOTHING WRONG WITH BLACK POP--I LIKED IT WHEN I WAS A TEEN.
I REMEMBER THE TUNE "LOOK WHAT YOU STARTED"---DENNIS WAS TRYING TO OUT-DO ALI-OLLIE WITH THOSE 5-OCTAVE FALSETTO SCREAMS, AND I ADMIT---HE DID A GOOD JOB. SO DID RON.
"I WONDER WHO SHE'S SEEING NOW"---I REMEMBER THAT MUSIC VIDEO BET AIRED YEARS BEFORE---SO HILARIOUS!! BILLY DEE WILLIAMS DID A GOOD ACTING JOB WOOING LEADING LADY AFTER TELLING THE TEMPS "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU GUYS NOT TO SING THAT SONG AGAIN" AND THEY POINTED TO THAT LADY SAYING "SHE WANNA HEAR IT!" OH, AND FRED "RERUN" BERRY WAS HILARIOUS ALSO.
I ALSO LIKE "LITTLE THINGS," "DO YOU WANNA GO WITH ME?" "EVERYTIME I CLOSE MY EYES," AND "10x10."
