Everything's fine on my end of Richmond... well I mean my neighborhood... parts of my end didn't fare too well. Everyone in my family is safe and only a few of us didn't have power. I didn't lose anything but water, ironically. I have pictures, I'll share when I get them all online. There are a lot of detours and several of my routes to KK are closed, last I checked. I'm off today, I'll do some more surveying and photography. This storm really did alter the land around here. Thanks for thinking about me too.

Good to hear from you C!.. glad to know your ok too! Yeah, really. Given that most of Richmond was under water, I'm glad that everything's okay with you. Ed

y'all ............... if you don't hear from me for a minute it's because the hurricane is expected to hit Tennessee, yep, that's what I said, about 8pm tonight. They're already closing schools and everything. Sheesh! I hope if we lose power it's not for too long.

Slept right through it. 2 weeping willow trees laying horizontal in the yard. Talk about sound sleeping

Talk about sound sleeping You slept through HUGO? I had 11 trees down. One destroyed 2 cars in my driveway and 3 fell on my roof! I NEVER want to go through another night like that! Luckily, even though Charlotte has had flooding problems with Frances... I don't live in a flood plain area. I'm not worried about the rain. I would only be concerned with tornadoes or power outages due to high winds. Greensboro seems to escape a little bit more often than Charlotte. BTW - I used to live in Greensboro. I attended UNC-G in the mid 70s. My ex's family lives there, so my son visits there pretty regularly.

One drop of rain, one blustery wind, or one sound of lightning or thunder, and you'd think I was narcoleptic (sp). Sleep like a baby..My kids do too. Maybe its genetic?

The only thing that scares me is ICE. After that ICe storm we had 2 years ago, I dont want to go throught that again. No power for over a week, I couldnt sleep because all I could hear outside was breaking, and more breaking and more breaking. In fact, I almost got hit by a tree. I was scraping inches of ice on my windsheild, and I heard it breaking. I was in such a panic I didnt know which way to run, so I just ran, luckily it was the right way.

Tara, Did you read where there were 6 deaths in NC today from the flooding caused by Ivan? This has been a rough hurricane season. Now, here comes Jeanne on the east side.

We just had a fun-filled evening of tornado warnings. They were popping up virtually everywhere. I've never seen anything like it in nearly 31 years of living. They were literally dropping out of the sky. There must have been nearly 20 confirmed reports of twisters. Our area was surrounded and it's a wonder that I have a roof and electricity right now. I pity those who don't...
