Personally, I don't think Dennis would have sung this song affectivly. Dennis has a voice of sheer power. However, Richard has a smooth voice capable of different ranges . Listen to his lead on "Firefly". Richard can sing forcefully, without shouting. Dennis can't do that. Take "I'll Take You In" for example. He either sings softly, or screams his guts out. He doesn't have that "middle" range that Richard has.

Hey Cheech...I'm not much of a Richard fan...but I am feeling that song. I also think it is one of his best leads, along with "Hey Girl ". I can't picture Dennis having the lead on it...think about if Richard had sang Dennis' part on "Cloud Nine" back in '68....nah, it ain't workin
