Anybody here follow Big East football? WVU (my alma mater) is playing Virginia Tech tonight. We are 13 point underdogs but there's always hope. Tonight's game is especially significant because VT along woth Miami, and Boston College have s****** the Big East Big Time by leaving for The ACC . Twenty one minutes till kick off. If you don't have a fovorite in this game PLEASE say a prayer, have a beer, and cross your fingers for my Mountaineers. Tess(has her pompoms out)

Luigi, I was thinking that he played for another BE team but VT's info says that he followed Michael to play for the Hokies. Micheal Vick was my nephew in law's fav college player. He and my niece live in Hokie country and he is a VT grad. Of course my niece is WVU gal...we raised her right ;D!!! Hot damn (sorry, Ivory) we just inercepted them ! Do you know anything about our RB Quincy Wilson? He had one heck of a run against Miami and he's a WV guy. We don't have a whole lot of instate players so when we get one it's really special. Here's VT's info on Marcus Vick. I'm not sure how current it is. www.hokiesports.com/football/players/2002/vick.htmlTess

Sorry Hokies fans, but I am rooting *against* VTech. They are not as good as their record leads you to believe, and the sooner they lose, the happier I'll be. GO Mountaineers! Peach

They are new for this season. Our "flying WV" logo was voted the most attractive in NCAA a few years ago (During Don Nehlen's era). Peach and Luigi, since you're not here is it OK if I drink your beer for you?

This calls for champagne! I am so thrilled for these guys
Our little state ranks last or next to last (thank you Mississippi)in about everything and there is usually not a lot to celebrate. The whole state (well, maybe not the Marshall fans) really gets behnd them. One of my Girl Scout's grandmother died a couple of yearsago and was buried (per her request)in her WVU sweatshirt LOL. Thanks for "going to the game" with me!

My pleasure, Tess! I'm a big college football fan... and it did my heart good to watch the Hokies lose. Normally, I usually pay attention to just the Big 12 games, but if there's a game on, I love to watch. Peach

The Big East is now merging with the ACC, well part of em. Group A and group B. 2 divisions, no east and west or north and south! Sounds a little silly compared to the Big 12 and SEC.

Hi Dnice. Actually the BE is NOT merging with the ACC at all. The BE had NOTHING to do with Miami, BC and VT (who buy the way got an old fashion WV a** whoopin last night ) leaving for the ACC. The ACC decided to make MORE money they wanted to go to a 12 team conference in order to add an extra play off game. So they raided the Big East. At first they were talking to Miami, Syracuse, and Boston College. VT had joined with the remaining BE teams in a suit against the ACC. There were not enough votes in the ACC for the new teams to join. UVA because of instate politicing held out until VT was asked to join. SO...VT was asked to join instead of Syracuse and BC. Let me add that Miami, VT, and all of the rest of these teams had made a committment to maintain the the BE. Connecticut has just spent big bucks to improve their stadium in prep of joining the BE. BC and Syracuse renewed their committment to the BE and then last week BC defects too. Their coach made a tactless speech to the effect that he hoped BE officiating would not penalize the exiting teams. My problem with this is that if it were pro sports whoever can negotiate the best deal so be it. Their reason for being is to make money. The NCAA however IMO, should at least PRETEND to be about integrity, fairness, and maintaining somewhat evenly matched conferences. It is galling enough that ND does what the h*** it wants...because it can. How can they expect to set an example to the so called student athletes when they are allowing conferences to woo whoever from wherever just to make more money? This has left the BE without much chance of being able to remain in the bowl championship running. To maintain any strength in scheduling we will have to go outside of our conference. Tess
