And that's why I think "Give Love" is the better album. I have to fight the urge to listen to it IN JULY!!!!
Don't get me wrong, Rudolph, My Christmas Tree, and Someday at Christmas are at the top of my list, but OVERALL, I like the other album better. I think it's a little bit more creative.

Now THAT I agree with, don't like that song.
I think in order to really like Melvin's song you just have to be a Melvin junkie, but I think I DO like it more than any other solo he did aside from Ol Man.
As for Drummer Boy, are you smoking crack!!!!? That song is the JAM!!!! Play on it! Play on it! ......... and SPEAKING of Melvin, wow!!!!

You also have to be a Richard fan to like "Give Love," because I think "I've Got Everything for Christmas" is one of his finest moments.

Hmmm Ivory... Maybe us "seasoned" folks (I won't say old) lean towards 'A Christmas Card'. The favorite few I enjoy on 'Give Love At Christmas' is 'Silent Night' and Richard Street's song which I cannot for the life of me remember the title on curet30. For me there's too much synth work on 'This Christmas' and I never could feel Melvin's song and 'Drummer Boy'. For me, there isn't a bad song on 'Christmas Card'. Just my 2 cents For any REAL TEMPTATIONS fan, that applies ,they will love both. Has nothing to do with age. Christmas Card paved the way for Give Love On Christmas. Plus Christmas Card is more original.

I must say...I don't agree. Hall Of Famers made the Christmas card LP. Give Love At Christmas is DIFFERENT...NOT BETTER! Well, I own both cd's and I hate to admit it, but Give love at Christmas is better. It's seems to be better thought out and produced. I heard Eddie's take on Silent Night, however, I liked Glenn's version better. I think it had to do more with the production. I love Melvin on Christmas Everyday. It gets me bobbing my head.

Nupe, you gotta try the half-squat, side to side shift dance to "Christmas Everyday." It's more fun the head-boping

My early Christmas gift to my aunt was a CD with Christmas Card and Give Love on the same disc. She loves "Let It Snow" and I've listened to it in my mind imagining Paul singing it and I think he would have knocked that song out. I like Christmas Card better though... and Otis has a song totally to himself!

I haven't researched the statistics on airplay at Christmas, but in the malls during the Christmas season, it was "Give Love at Christmas" which I heard over and over again. And people kept stopping, listening, and saying, "What a beauitful song."

Listen to the raido, look at the christmas cd's that are put together, you will see more songs from the ChristmasCard CD,than the Give Love At Christmas cd.

Can't you tell! Well, as a matter of fact, I guess they often try to support their opinions with their training or education in music. It's cool though,....but the average person doesn't know what the hell they are talking about. I do, and I know that YOU do!! I rather enjoy you guy's banter. Don't stop your heated discussions... I like the DRAMA!! I love all you guys!!

I like the DRAMA!! I love all you guys!! You know I do. You don't have to worry about stopping it. If it's wrong...I'll correct them!Cliff notes and all! :laughing Education in music? It's been said that the James Brown band couldn't read music. The same was said about Duke Ellington, that he couldn't read music. If you had that so-called education in music,I assume that means reading music, would you try to play music know-it-all and try to say,"Well, they couldn't read music" knowing what they have achieved and also knowing that with all that "education" you haven't done SQUAT compaired to their non-reading musical carreers? When I was learning to play the trumpet, the first thing I was taught was not to puff up my jaws like Dizzy Gillespie. His style was wrong by "textbook " standards. Should I think that I can do better because I "studied" trumpet playing? If I'm an ass, yeah, I would think that. The thread about Glenn being the best first tenor is a good thread, but Bud& Cheech have nothing to compare with. How many live cd's did Glenn record? Damon? Ron? One between the Three of them. Cheech was too young to see Glenn perform, the jury's out on Bud. If Cheech was too young to see Glenn perform,he sure as hell didn't see Damon perform.Bud might have seen Damon perform,I wouldn't bet the house,it's not the time of year to be homeless. So,what do they have to work with? ZIPO! They don't know how Ron,Glenn,or Damon responded to life on the road. All they have to go on is studio recordings. How many takes did Glenn need on the songs that he sang lead on? How many did Damon need? What about Ron? What about Eddie? Point is...they don't know. They didn't learn that in reading the cliff notes. Do they realize that when cd's first came out, different takes were released. The "You're My Everything" that's on the EOS box set is not the same cut on O Lot Of Soul. No,they didn't learn that in school.More falsettos pattern themselves after Eddie, than they do Ron,Damon & Glenn put together.Hell, the three of them patterned themselves after Eddie.Do you think that those three singers are STUPID enough to pattern themselves after a singer who had trouble with pitch, singing on key and with a live band? Seems to me they thought like Philip Bailey & myself...that as far as first tenors, and falsettos are concerned...Eddie Kendricks was the LOCKSMITH,meaning he had more keys than the law allowed. CERTIFIED LOCKSMITH at that. When you mention Training & education,it's ok to take it,but you should strive to pass the class, which the jury's still out on that.Going thru seven bars or more with a sign that flashes BUD does not make you a musician!
