I was born and raised in White Plains, New York. I went to k - 12 in this town. But it just hit me last night that I don't know it very well. There are two cross street I have been on millions of times and yesterday when told to pick up my sister from these cross streets I blanked. I had no idea where they were. Then after that I realized that I don't know many streets in my hometown. They just built and tore down some stores I didn't even know it happened?
How in touch are you with where you were raised or currently live?
btw I live in Bronxville now, so I claim to not have to know White Plains.

DOn't ask me ANYTHING about where I stay in Georgia, or at home in Montgomery, because I have a TERRIBLE sense of direction.

I grew up in Seat Pleasant, MD and know that area pretty well. Although I was only 1 mile from the Washington, DC line, I really don't know my way around Washington at all. I left there at age 17 to go to college in Greensboro, NC and never drove around DC at all. Now Charlotte is a different story.... I've been living here for 18 years and really know my way around here pretty well. I'm usually the one everyone else asks for directions.

I grew up in Jackson, MS and I pretty much know my way around the whole state. I moved to AL for a while, but moved back to MS a few years ago. So I guess I know my hometown pretty well, but AL is a different story. I still get lost when I go back, and that's a shame since they call MS & AL the "TWIN STATES"!!! ;D

What part of Jackson are you from?
I tell people all the time, don't ask me where anything is, 'cause I can't tell you. I grew up in Flowood, MS, and I can tell you where stuff is, and I know some street names. Take me to Jackson, though, and I'll get us lost. I know how to get to the bookstore (Books-A-Million), Steinmart, and the mall (Northpark, not Metrocenter) from my house.

I live Bowie, MD, outside of the District of Columbia. I think I know quite a bit about our area, but not as much as I should.

I know that the city of Flowood is 50 years old (since 1953), that we've had two mayors (G. Chastain Flynt who served 1953-1989 and 1989-present is Gary Rhodes), and that we're one of the fastest growing cities in the state of MS. As a matter of fact, we're getting two new malls and a movie theaters (18 screens with stadium seating... I have no idea what that means but it sounds cool).

I grew up in Windsor, Colorado....after being born in Corpus Christi, TX and having lived in Las Vegas, NV after that. When we first moved to Windsor in 1971, it had a population of about 2800 people. At the 2000 census, it was at 10,000. Since 2000, I would guess it's at 13,000 today? It's growing like crazy. In the 80s, I knew everything about that town... what's there to know about a town that size? Now...I don't know half of the new streets...you go to the grocery store, you don't know anybody. (Soon Windsor will have *two* major grocery stores!) We got a huge amount of California transplants in the past 5+ years all along the Front Range. Although I live 10 miles from Windsor now, I still consider it "my home town," even though my address isn't there. I don't like what it has become.... that is very sad to me. (Spoken like a grouchy old person.) Peach
