Charlotte dodged the bullet this time. We only had light winds and a few sprinkles since we were on the outer fringes of the storm. Just 2 counties over - Anson County - there was a little more minor damage. The Outer Banks got hit pretty hard... especially with flooding. Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Portsmouth - pretty bad

From MSNBC... Hurricane Isabel rode off into the sunset Friday, but not before it killed 23 people and left behind a mammoth weekend of work for utilities along the waterlogged East Coast. As floods continued to plague the region, many of the 8 million customers who lost power faced the possibility they could remain in the dark for as long as a week.

Things are realy bad here in Richmond. We have no lights, water or phone. Nine trees down on our property , thousans of dollars worth of damage. Friday morning we had to cut our way out of the sub-dividson. Yesterday at Winn-Dixie there was fist fights over bags of ice. All the batterys are gone. Wal-Mart was out of water, ice and propain gas. My wife and i have come to my job to shower and boot our cell-phones. We both work for the State (her with DMV and me with Social Services)and have to work tomorrow or we would go stay with our daughter in MD. Wish us luck Temp fans

I'm glad to say that both Jonel and Fair Lady Soul survived Isabel uscathed. Well, Fair Lady Soul had almost all of her inn guests cancel so I doubt she would consider that unscathed, but she's physically safe anyway. She's got trees down all over her yard but that's about it. Balitmore's Inner Harbor is a special place for me because I've spent so many wonderful times with some of Tempts-friends there before and after concerts. I can't help but wonder if the two Italian restaurants I've eaten at there in Little Italy (I think that's right) are flooded, I imagine they are. Fair Lady Soul and I went to Annappolis one time too, I;m sure I've been where all those photos were taken. I don't know why people look like they're "swimming" or at least walking around it like that. That's dangerous. My father and another minister from our church went to help out after the bad flooding in South Georgia several years ago and the other mister got sick because he fell down and get disease-infested mud in his mouth.

I JUST GOT ELECTRICITY BACK! From about 5:45PM Thursday to 10:36AM Tuesday... long hot dark nights. I hope it lasts though because power came back on for about 20 seconds Saturday and went off again. Just a tease. And what was worse was the house and people to the streets behind us had power, the block to my left had power, half the block to the right had power, the block in front of us had power... But to let you know, I'm ok and so is everyone in my family and everyone I know here. We had two trees uprooted in out backyard and one just missed the house. I have never seen so many downed and uprooted trees. Never seen lines for gas... people fighting over ice and water... and so much darkness. This wasn't even that strong a storm! It could have been far worse. As for the doughnuts, we worked until 5:43PM when the power went out and the shop closed. We had to throw out tons of doughnuts and a lot of money and ingredients were wasted. Everyone made it home safely. Power cme back on there Sunday, the day I was off and they called me in... I worked until 2:35AM. There's no ice and we need ice for the doughnuts... they had to boil water to use first, but couldn't cool it down. We waited for hours just to start making doughnuts Sunday/Monday. They should be back up and working now. And I'm not off today either so back up to KK.

Day 6, still no lights or phone. This morning a tree fell on the house two doors down from us. No one was hurt but the house is in bad shape. This morning the line to get ice was 100 people long. People are starting to carry guns, its getting crazy. We are being told that some of us wont have lights for another week.
