*worried emoticon* I'm not too happy with the idea of a category 4-5 hurricane hitting anywhere especially if its aim is between NC and NJ. I've seen too many models having it land between NC and VA and I remember being scared when Fran passed through. However, Fran landed in NC and was a tropical storm by the time it moved through VA. All that wind was scary and that was nothing compared to what Isabel has. I am going to call my friends I visited in the Outer Banks to see how they're doing and what they're doing. They were expecting on the 8th too. I'll call tomorrow but as for at home... as big as Isabel is (what is it 300 miles across?) I'm sure we'll have wind here, how much? I sure hope waaaaaaaaaay under what's out there now. Anyone else following this storm? Oh... and... I STILL HAVE TO WORK! Do people really need to include Krispy Kreme in their disaster kits?

Cadeho - I feel you on this one. I was here in Charlotte when Hugo hit in 1989. Living 250 miles inland, no one thought it would give us anything but rain and a some mild wind gusts. Were we ever WRONG!! Charlotte was hit with 90 - 100 mile per hour winds that wiped us out. I had 3 trees on my roof, 11 more down in the yard that caused 2 cars to be destroyed. No power to my house for 15 days. It was very scary. I now take hurricane predictions VERY seriously. I hope Isabel loses power before hitting this area.

Do people really need to include Krispy Kreme in their disaster kits? YES!!! My parents were planning on going to .................. one of those Barrier Islands, can't remember which one ............. to celebrate my father's 62nd birthday. Needless to say, those plans got cancelled.

Surfers at Wrightsville Beach, NC are beginning to realize that we might have to get serious about Isabel REAL soon.

Living on the Gulf coast I feel your pain. We haven't had a serious hurricane in Houston for 20 years. (Alica). However, we had a devastating tropical storm Allison two years ago that wrecked just as much havock if not more than Alicia.

Well, hurricane expectancy is the norm here in Florida. June - November is considered hurricane season here. Weve had quite a few canes to sweep through, with Hurricane Andrew being the most devastating, but we try to brace for it. Thank God that this one is supposed to miss us.

Cadeho- I live on the south side (Brookbury) and have over 50 trees on our property. My wife just won the best yard award in our sub-dividson and she is going to have a fit if it rips up our yard. In last years snow storm we lost five big trees, one fell on a neighbors passing car.

I am in Hampton Roads, school has been cancelled for the next three days, and we are calling it a "hurricane holiday." Being from Pittsburgh, I'm not used to this at all. But I've stocked up on the canned goods, flashlights, hurricane candles and all that other great stuff.

Hey...
Can someone in North Carolina do me a favor?
Someone please drive to Winston-Salem and slap everyone at the KK HQ... we have a hurricane in case they didn't know. Why do we still have to report to work and run the trucks?
Anyway I'm off. This is going to be fun...

Sadly, someone in Richmond was killed - hydroplaning due to flooded streets. Isabel has wreaked havoc in Virginia and the NC Coastal areas. Pray for those who have suffered major flood damage and for those 2 million people without power. I've been there and it is not fun.
