I just wanted to know why. Was he sick, in trouble, about to get fired? Because the dude who did the bass and did the bass speaking parts was not anywhere close to even Harry McGilberry, who to me was the least of the 4 "official" bass singers of the Temptations.

What makes you think that this is not Mr. Joe Herndon? Mr. Herndon is still with The Temptations, my friend.

Hm? I don't think Joe was doing a bad job. What exactly is it you don't like? I think he sounds pretty good ... We will never get Blue back, ((All5Voices))

actually, Joe was not on the album because he was not feeling well so another bass was in his spot for the album.

Lol! In that case, Joe's prospective replacement sounds pretty good ... Who is the singer?

Lol! In that case, Joe's prospective replacement sounds pretty good ... Who is the singer? No, the dude who sang in Joe's place wasn't very good. As I said in my earlier post, he wasn't even as good as Harry McGilberry, who was the least of the 4 Temptations bass singers. But this replacement dude does sound better than Dennis' Tempt Review bass singer, who sounds like Tito Jackson back when he tried to sing the lower notes back in the Jackson 5 days (eg. J5 version of 'Dance And Hum Along'), as in not a real Temptations bass, but has the lowest register. I sincerely hope they don't use him if Joe were not able to continue. I'm happy with Joe. He's an upgrade from Harry.

What was wrong with Joe? Was he ill?

You know, back when the temps were recording the album "Wings Of Love", Dennis Edwards had "fake members" doing back up on some of the songs. I remember reading how Melvin Franklin and Otis Williams said they met guys who were "sitting in for them on some of the songs"!

He's an upgrade from Harry. Hm. I personally liked Harry, and I do like Mike Patillo's voice, too ... The true problem I see is that many people didn't even realize it wasn't Joe. Imo that speaks volumes. It's sad, really. Back in the days of the real Tempts (C5) most of their fans would have known right away that it wasn't Blue. Harry had a distinct voice, and it was clear it was him singing when you heard him. I think it's a matter of preference ...

Dennis is simply wonderful on it. I came to think of it as his album anyway.

Well, I like Terry. But he doesn't exactly have the classic Temptations lead singer style voice, especially in the line of the one he replaced. He is a solo artist voice that just happens to be in a legendary group. Harry was much better as a bass than this cat who sang bass on the most recent release. What's sad is that many people who consider themselves real/hard core fans couldn't tell that it wasn't Joe. When I heard the dude speak on the front of 'Hold Me', I knew that's wasn't him. Then I read the album/CD insert and it was confirmed.

Ok...We now know that Joe was not on the album. But who was the person singing in his place? And is he the newest member of the group?

Ok fellow Temps fans...I found out that the bass singer doing Joe's parts is named: ODEEN MAYS. Now I'm not saying he's a new temp, but that is the person doing the bass on "Still Here".

Talked to someone from "Star Directions" and I'm very happy to report that Mr. Joe Herndon is still with our favorite group. He was ill when it came time to record the new cd. That's all.

Thanks for the info ((x)) I did some re-listening of some of the songs -- and, yes I think I can tell a difference. But it's not very obvious (at least not to me) that it is not Joe. I guess, it's because I don't listen to much of the Tempts' newer material.
