I was in a supermarket and heard this on the musak... a woman, bluesy, singing The Way you Do the Things you Do I know a couple of women have "covered" the song and I did check on You Tube to try to see who this was...but couldn't find it I was NOT impressed btw.. on one hand, I was happy to hear the song as it may stir up new fans for the Temptations, on the other hand I felt it was really a very generic cover of the wonderful original I also heard a version/cover of "It's growing">> one guy singing it again, to my ears, a very standard R&B singer, you could hear similar on any season of American Idol... a really unoriginal version why mess with perfection?? Is this a new trend?? to play musak covers of the wonderful Temptations originals in supermarkets?? Give me a break....Eddie and David did it already and these songs were perfect

(esty) you'll have to come shopping where I live lol The grocery store -- I'm almost certain -- has a Tempts fan in charge of the music selection. They play the good old Tempts stuff quite often. I must say that I have yet to hear a cover of The Way You Do ... that I really like. No matter who sings it. Maybe it is really the song's fault -- it is kind of simple, and making something special out of such a song def. takes a lot of talent. I think the younger generation of singers just doesn't "feel" what they sing, especially when it comes to songs that were written decades ago.

I did hear the Arthur Anderson (NOT Beatles) version of "Anna" in my local Wendy's last week when I went in to pick up some of those "frosty" Halloween treat certs to give out LOL The Way You Do the Things you Do IS simple..and fun....I love it and I smile any time I hear it still I personally think the Temptations esp Classic 5 were fantastic at singing "young guy madly in love" songs....fun, flirty, maybe even silly songs...no one can touch them on this IMHO >>>"I'm Too Busy Thinkin Bout My Baby" is another example of a song that was fun and about a young guy so in love, with fun words "It's Growing"..."Get Ready"....all fun, happy songs...songs that to me speak of a young guy in love without all the drama, bs, and overthinking that some cover versions would add I heard a cover of "It's Growing">> and all I could think was ...why>?? One mediocre R&B singer doing a song that fantastic 5 did perfectly??? what the heck??? I think some singers over interpret these songs....the cover version I heard of TWYDTTYD was wayyyy too serious and emotional... a woman's (mature) voice s-l-o-w-l-y singing "Ummm... Oh Baby, You know, you know you could have been a schoolbook" is just....not good haha...."ohhh...let me tell you...you could have been a flower, uhh hhaaaaa"....ugh American Idol singers always fail when they try the Tempts IMHO...last season was funny when the one guy tried to sing "all" the parts of "Get Ready" LOL...lead chorus, Eddie to Melvin haha I have heard some of the reggae covers....they are "OK", and yes I like reggae music somewhat...but I love the Temptations and they did them best I don't even think that some Temptations songs should be covered...why mess with perfection?? I would love to hear the originals played anywhere and everywhere....even supermarkets haha
