especially since the young woman waited until the next day to come forward. Now hang on just a minute and going along with what Jane said ............ lemme play Devil's advocate here for a minute. IF this young woman is telling the truth, why are we going to distrust her just because she wated a few hours. I mean, I understand what you're saying, but rape is a very tramatizing thing, esp. when you're accusing a celebrity. I'm no expert but I would imagine that the LAST thing a woman wants to do when she's been assaulted is run out the door screaming "Help! I've been raped! Call the PO-leece!!!" I mean it's NOT something you want the world to know, comprende? But the whole damn world does know cause she came forward. She wasn't that traumatized. If it had not been Kobe her a@# would not have been in the room in the first place. I didn't say I didn't believe her. I said she waited to come forth with her accusations. I'm not buying that she didn't know what she was doing. She went in to his room after her work hours, in which during my time was frowned upon by hotels when we were in town . I doubt very seriously that has changed. Let's see if the hotel fires her for being in his room. And let's see, if I was assulted in a room and I couldn't physically win the fight, but I got away, yes I would go out screaming for help. If she did nothing wrong, then what does she have to be ashamed of? I am not being insensitive here. But it sounds to me like men are the only people in the world having sex. Who could they be having it with? ;D And Jane you're right I did mean good people do bad things.

(((Aba))) Nothing has changed in regards to the rules hotels have about their employees. Most of the old timers on this board know I manage a Hilton hotel, and not only are they fired for going to a guest room, also for dating any guest even if it's off property. Employees have 10 minutes after their shift is over to leave the property, and can not return unless they are scheduled to work.

I think someone convinced that girl to "go for broke" and just try to nail Kobe. It doesn't excuse his actions - he knows what the dangers are out there. The risk of losing his wife, child, major endorsements, fan support, possibly contracting STDs, or dealing with a paternity suit, etc. He will be paying for this in a lot of ways for years to come. But, I just don't believe it was a sexual assault. If he is guilty, then he deserves to get the book thrown at him from every angle possible... but somehow... i just don't buy it. Something about the time-line between the alleged assault and the police report just reeks

I can see a scenario where they got comfortable and then it escalated. My question is if there was no intent on her part to participate in any activity then why was she there? One question that needs to be answered is what information is it that Kobe needed that she couldn't give him over the phone, have someone else like a bellman deliver it or just put it under the door. I believe something was afoot from the git-go.

I'm guessing that at any entrance by which she left, front, back, or side, there would've been another hotel employee who would've seen her leaving, looking upset [if she had been assaulted]. I don't know a lot about hotels, but an expensive hotel like that one was bound to have some guards or something, right?

I had wanted to say something about that, too, Mike, but I thought perhaps I'd been watching too many movies. But since it was a high-priced hotel, they could afford to do that, too. The cameras would have her either running out of his room after the incident or walking out with a disturbed expression on her face. Evidentiary exhibit A, anybody? (Now I'm talking crazy. Nish is the real lawyer-to-be. Where is she?) CNN said the sheriff who arrested Kobe knows the girl.

I'm now hearing from news sources I know that they ordered a movie while they were in the room together. It has not been released whether it was a prono movie or not.

I don't understand what the big deal is. Kobe is just like any other human being except for the fact he gets paid millions to play a sport. If people don't think this crap happens everyday with every other athlete or celebrity, then there's a lot of bubbles that need to busted. I don't buy that crying crap he did on t.v. because if he hadn't got caught, he and his wife would be at some expensive restaurant indulging the bowl of cherries of their life. Now all of a sudden these news articles are trying to say he has all these personal issues and has always been this loner who no one ever really knew.(www.msnbc.com.) He is not mentally unstable, he just wanted to do as yall men say"test the waters" and that's what he did. It's the same old story, he's gonna settle with the chic so she got a one night stand with a famous guy, and lots of cash. Then his knee's gonna heal, he's gonna be back to doing his famous dunks and making twice the money he had to pay her. He and his wife will make public appearances with their little girl and she'll talk about how she forgave him and blah blah blah....then we'll wait to see if the chic claims she's pregnant and it'll start back over...

I'm just now reading this article, Zeta, and while I'm not a Kobe fan, it seems like people are sort of taking pot shots at him. Especially his teammates.

I am not for or against anyone in this case. If he committed a crime he needs to pay for it. But if he didn't then.......... My latest news says that this young woman who's character we shouldn't question, overdosed on drugs not more than two weeks ago at home with her parents there. Whatever skeletons she has will be brought forth by this case. Not only is Kobe on trial but now so is she just by reporting what she did.
