Even if he IS innocent, there's still NO EXCUSE for these guys to get themselves into these situations. Have you seen his wife? She's hot!
DENVER — Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant (search) turned himself in to police and posted a $25,000 bond on a felony count of sexual assault (search), the Eagle County sheriff's office said Sunday.
The 24-year-old All-Star guard turned himself in on Friday and was released the same day.
The sheriff's office said an arrest warrant was issued after deputies investigated a report made Wednesday claiming sexual misconduct by Bryant.
The report said the incident happened on the night of June 30 in a hotel in the Edwards area of Eagle County, near Vail.
After a series of interviews and a review of the physical evidence, investigators met with representatives for District Attorney Mark Hurlbert and concluded they had enough evidence for the felony sexual assault count, the sheriff's office said in a statement.
"During the investigation, Bryant was cooperative with investigators and remains cooperative with authorities," the sheriff's office said.
Judge Russell Granger ordered the case sealed.
Attempts to reach Bryant for comment were not immediately successful.
"These allegations are completely out of character of the Kobe Bryant we know," Lakers (search) general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a statement. "For the seven years he's been with us, he has been one of the finest young men we've known and a wonderful asset to both our team and our community.
"However, since this is a legal matter being handled by the authorities in Colorado, we must refrain from further comment at this time."
Bryant was the NBA's second-leading scorer last season, averaging a career-best 30 points a game. He scored 40 or more points in nine straight games in February and also had career-high averages of 6.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists while playing in each of the Lakers' 82 games.
The Lakers were eliminated from the Western Conference semifinals by the San Antonio Spurs, ending Los Angeles' run of three straight NBA championships.
Bryant underwent shoulder surgery on June 12 in New York. The Lakers expect he'll be ready by the start of training camp in October.
Bryant married Vanessa Laine in April 2001. Bryant and his parents recently mended a rift that developed when he became engaged to Laine when she was an 18-year-old high school student.
Vanessa, gave birth to their first child, Natalia Diamante Bryant, in January.

We don't know the facts. I guess it should be stars should have NO contact with the public who pay to see them. I get upset when I see someone famous, just walk by their fans, act like they aren't even there.Especially children, who look up to these people.I hear Michael Jordan doesn't sign autographs, not even for kids! And the kids have the NERVE to ask their parents for $250 for a pair of "Air Jordan's"! This gives the stars all the more reason to act like that, might get set-up! Now,tell me why would Kobe Bryant have to use sexual miscounduct to be with another woman! Don't you think that he has at least 20 in each city who are "ready, willing& able" to "see to his every need"? And at a time when he just signed a deal with NIKE ! That Nike company is one HELL of a company; they make wives forget about divorce (Michael Jordan's wife) and turns people into sex criminals(Kobe Bryant) Think about it!

That's my point. If he was well-known for keeping his Yoo-hoo where it belonged, then anyone who knew him would know it was totally bogus for any woman to claim otherwise. Now I'm speaking hypothetically and about celebrities in general. Already people from within the Lakers organization are coming to his defense to say what he is being accused of does not sound like the Kobe they know, so we'll just have to wait and see how this thing pans out.
I'm just saying that when you are in the public eye, you should KNOW that there are going to be people who try to take advantage of you, so you should go out of your way to cover your own backside.

I agree Ivory. Many of them can't grasp that. Even my pookie, AI. That's why I appreciate players like Tim Duncan, who if he does do any dirt, it isn't out there. He seems like the type that doesn't invite or look for trouble.

mike,
Get your facts straight. Michael Jordan does sign autographs for kids. He is well-known for his kindness and generosity to kids. Check up on the facts.
He doesn't sign autographs for adults who send kids to get them so the adult can sell them. These adults know that MJ cannot resist kids.
Of course, he doesn't always know when this is going to happen. So he usually has a pattern of signing autographs such as every other person or something similar. But the kids get preference.
I could tell you countless stories, but it would take a lot of space.

I was as shocked as everyone else by the report about Kobe.
O.K., guys, listen up. What is wrong with these guys? Is this some kind of ego trip with them? IS this the only way they can get some kind of self-assurance? Do they need constant ego massage?
Why don't they read a book and expand their minds? They're working on the wrong part of their body.
Don't they realize how many people out there are eager to get rich off of them?

If Michael Jordan no longer signs every kid's autograph, it's because so many adults have used kids to take advantage of MJ.
And perhaps that is why so many of these athletes/entertainers/? get burned or destroyed. They don't realize how many so-called fans will take advantage of them.
And it's not only fans. It's the business world too. Sharks are present everywhere. They use these people and then toss them aside.
Isn't there a song dealing with "knowing who your true friends are"?

Well, I wanna know exactly what he's being accused of. I mean, they're not saying "rape" they're saying "sexual assault." Does that mean rape? Or were they having consentual sex and he beat her up? (allegedly) or did he touch her in an inappropriate fashion? What?
Oh well ........... as long as my Shaq is staying out of trouble.

Shaq Ivory? On the radio this morning, they said that the girl was an employee of the hotel or rehab center or whatever. They also said that there was DNA evidence that confirmed it was him. I wonder what she was doing up there. Not that she went up there to do anything wrong but just out of curiousity. Also, a caller this morning ( a man no less) brought up this point. For some reason, I agree w/him. He said that these stars don't think. He mentioned how if you want to mess around, do it the smart way and go through an escort service. He went on about how that's what those women do, so they aren't really out to get you. I don't know, that makes a little bit of sense to me. Of course someone who is paid like Kobe might never be able to avoid these situations.
