Is anyone's DVD in actual 5.1 surround. All the DVD's I've seen are in Dolby 2.0 - which leaves it up to your receiver to create surround. Barnes & Noble says it's selling the movie on 5.1 surround DVD. If anyone actually has one that's in 5.1, let me know so that I know it's available and not just a misprint on Barnes & Noble's part.

I'm sorry Ed, all I know is when I push the right button on the remote, the sound gets louder.

Hey Ed! Good news: your tonsils are okay ... :laughing
My copy of the tape says it's in "digital dolby surround." That is probably not what you want ... right?

Thanks Anna and Nupe. Mine also says "Digital Dolby Surround" but it isn't...at least not really. It's Dolby Surround 2.0 which sends surround signals to two speakers, not five. At Barnes & Noble, they say what they're selling is Dolby Digital 5.1, which sends signal to left, center, right, rear left, and rear right. Most movies nowadays are made this way but the DVD of the movie I've got wasn't. I'm just wondering if Barnes & Noble has created a "typo". I need to get another one anyway so I'm gonna order one and see what I get.. Ed P.S.: Thanks for the vote of confidence on the tonsils, Anna..

Thank you , Chong. That's exactly the answer I was looking for.
Anna: Whenever you go to a movie theater, the movie you're watching is in 5.1. Often, when you rent a newer DVD and bring it home, it's in 5.1. They're pretty common nowadays. The purpose of that setup is that it brings you into the movie and the resolution of the dialog is actually a bit better in that format.

Thanks Ed for the education ... but there quite a few dialoges in newer movies that I 'd rather do without ;D I got the point, though.

Check out Barnes & Noble if you're curious, Maliya. You'll find it advertised there as 5.1
