I don't know if its true or not. I DO know that crack addicts will sell or pawn their cars for crack, .. I've seen it for myself. Some crack addicts have done EVEN worse. I've seen women that I've known personally become addicted and prostitute themselves for crack. So, that type of thing is typical behavior for crack addicts. My guess is that the producers of the mini-series depicted that scene for dramatic value. right..it is common behvior for crack addict s to pawn or sell anything they have to get what they need. David didn't have to own it, he had the keys and a drug dealer will take it off your hands. I knew a guy who had a custom van and the drug dealer just liked to ride around in it, so he would give the guy crack to use his truck sometimes on the weekends. I am so glad to hear people are finally listening to what Dennis and others have said about the Made for TV movie which is just what it is. To have any animosity towards anyone strictly because of the movie is foolish at best. It was*based* on a book by Otis Williams, that's all. If anything Ms. DePasse could be villified for the movie because she had the final say on it.

right, in movies that are based on a true story, they have to exaggerate for better effect. also, maybe because some occurances weren't interesting and need to be "dressed up" a little. actually, didn't the same controversy happen when Suzanne DePasse did "The Jacksons: an American Dream"? I was 10 yrs old when it came out so I'm not sure what they were about but i knew it was over Joe Jackson, but that's another story. the bottom line: "y'all too uptight!" just enjoy the movies for what they are. although it's mostly non-fiction, take it as a long drawn out dramatic yet funny SNL sketch about the temps history. cheers Rob P.S. I was just out looking for that on DVD cuz My sister was taping it for us but some clown decided to shut it off right after the Limo scene w/ Dave and Flynn! It cut off my fav part where Dave's freakin out sayin "WITHOUT DAVID RUFFIN, YOU AIN'T NOTHIN!" I couldn't find it on DVD so I'm just gonna order it cuz it's like 11 bucks i think on Amazon.com. so that's all I have to say about that
