"I Used To Have A Soul Melvin" Didn't Eddie say, "YOU used to have a soul Melvin? Tempt On!/me%20 : I stopped the Movie @ that Scene, & put it on "Mute" to get "closed caption", it Printed out, You used to have a Soul Melvin!" Thanks for suggesting "If we only had a script", that's where I got the idea to use Closed Caption. Also, because one of my favorite lines is in that Scene..."You Better Check Yourself Otis!"

I always heard it as "YOU used to have a soul, Melvin". That's the only thing that makes sense, he was accusing Melvin of turning on Paul, or at supporting Otis's lead to "throw Paul away like Alabama trash". Why would Eddie say "*I* used to have a soul"?

I listened to it again a minute ago, and now it sounds like "Used to have a soul, Melvin." :laughing
And I have no idea why "I" would have also made sense; it just seems that way.

Why won't my DVD player do CC for this movie? Booooo. That wasn't right of those writer-people, having EJK call somebody else out like that. :laughing

"I don't think that I can get any better"
"Maybe I don't need as much rehearsin' as some other folks"
"Ain't nobody comin' to see you Otis"
"Bye, thanks for comin' over"
That entire scene is a goldmine of good lines.
"I know you want to leave me... " (as David grabs the mic) Love it!!!
"You outta your d*** mind, I'm gonna whoop your a**!" Otis to David. (I have much less love for this one)
"How y'all be" Paul to O and Melvin.
When Otis is thanking the Detroit audience and Shelley yells from the back "Detroit" he (Shelley) looks sooo dorky.
Not a line but when the Primes and Primettes are singing "Stay" at the St. Stephen's opening. D***but Paul and Eddie are so fine in that scene.(sigh) I could (and do) watch that all day. They have so much charisma, and the dancing, mmm, mmm, mmm! I especally like when Paul does the hand clap and the motion after that. Is there a recording of the Tempts and/or Paul singing "Stay"?
