Last Friday I got into my car and the Service Engine Soon light was on. I took my car into the dealer and the computer stated it was a transmission problem. This is a 98 Suburban and has 48,000 miles. My husband followed me there to bring me home and on the way home his car started acting up. His is a Ford Explorer with 106,000 miles. I received a call on Monday that my cars computer had shorted out. The only good thing is that this was covered under a federal warranty 8 years or 80,000 miles. I received a call on Tuesday that my husbands car computer had shorted out. His is not covered under warranty. I think it is strange that both of our cars shorted on the same day. Here is the best part. My car cost $450 to repair His car cost $1150 to repair :bs: Why does it cost so much more to repair when we have to pay out of our pockets

you can still go online and purchase used car warranties- they're not cheap - up to $1200-$1500 but they could come in handy on a 98 suburban with a $4000 transmission replacement!
