seems like our well refined well mannered articulate gentleman is quoted as saying he hates ms. washington, his rape victim, and that he didn't rape her, but since he has the stigma of being a convicted rapist, he would rape her now. this will air on a show thursday called the pulse on where else-the only source for lowlife dirt- fox network. espn.go.com/boxing/news/2003/0528/1560271.html?partnersite=espn

Look, Mike Tyson had a rough upbringing and has some mental problems, that's clear. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he was one of the greatest boxers ever. .............. that just takes up back to the same argument we're always having, doesn't it Sukka?

i don't mind watching him get pummelled by lennox lewis- but i do mind when people push a microphone in his face and let him talk. imagine how you would feel if he had raped you then tells the world he hates you for lying and that he would rape you again. imagine if you are boxing in the ring with him and he bites your ear and then later claims he would eat your children. does that make him a great boxer? in the 80's when he had angelo dundee as his mentor he had a guidance and direction. after he went with don king his whole situation went south.

I don't believe Ms. Washington when she says what she says happened, but that's not my business. Anyway, he's had this foot-in-mouth syndrome before, saying crazy stuff, and he shouldn't always talk. I'll always remember when he told some reporters, "I'm crazy, but I'm not that kind of crazy." I said, there's more than one kind?
That was just the medicine talking.

i believe you place ms washington in a different category than george washington-''i cannot tell a lie''!
sounds like you esteem her in the same way as anita hill who accused clarence thomas of sexual improprieties. except clarence wasn't sent to jail like mike tyson was.

I do.
I don't know anything about Anita Hill. I've heard of her, of course, but I don't know the particulars of her claim. I might put Ms. Washington in the category where I put those girls who sued R. Kelly.

Okay,
Mike Tyson is just SICK. The man has no filter, nor do I think he wishes to have one. Sometimes I think he says stuff just for sensational press coverage. I don't know anything about his situation with the Washington femme. All I know is to come out and say you would rape someone again, that's disgusting! It means you obviously think of the act as a valid means of expressing anger or hatred or something. No, I won't express my anger verbally or deal with it constructively, how about I go out and just violate the person that made me angry. Cat clearly needs to be in a halfway house somewhere.

Everybody know that Mike has big problems and he's in need of help, ten times over. I'm sorry for all the trouble that he's caused and the terrible things he's been accused of. Everyone can hope for only the best for him as well as ourselves.

I hear you, sukka but Robin Givens a great woman :hairraiser:. I never did like her too much after that interview she gave with Mike on TV. Her and her mother, I think were golddiggers. Remember, her mother tried to take Dave Winfield to court. And Robin has been linked to a bunch of people, MJ, Eddie Murphy, Donald Trump and the list goes on. I'm not saying she's slept with everyone of them but I just wouldn't trust her around anyone who is rich.

does that make him a great boxer?
No, that has absolutely nothing to do with him being a boxer. The fact that he has one of the most dangerous punches in the game makes him a PHENOMINAL boxer.
he was a great boxer. he had a great woman- robin givens. he had a great career. he had a great manager.
But he didn't have a fair shot in life like you and I had. He said at the press conference after his last fight, "no one loves me and no one ever has" and I believe he sincerly feels that way, it's not just talk. That's sad Sukka, like I said, he's got major issues.
I'm gonna have to go with Fuffy on the Givens thing too. I'm sure she's a nice person and all, but I never understood why she and her mother chose to be so involved with Mike's career. Well, I know WHY they did it, but I think they were wrong in doing so. That would be like me taking my mama to Iraq and telling my fiance ;D the pilot how to fight the war. That's not my place.

well if he's such a phenomenal boxer, what happened with lewis, douglas, holyfield? i think he was a great boxer and he has lost his boxing ability.
i agree with nisha on his one. i don't go for that far left everybody'd a victim nobody's responsible for his actions.
i listen to a syndicated one minute guy every day on cbs radio- his name is micahel josephson and he has an organization called character counts . it's at charactercounts.org and today he said that what you are now saying is like the kid who killed his parents and pleaded to the judge because he was an orphan.
my wife was from the ghetto- spanish harlem- 1 brother dead from aids, another from being thrown into a moving subway, another one died in prison, her cousin is in prison for murder, another cousin in jail for armed robbery, attacked by an ex lover, robbed in her tenement, sister in jail 6 times for pushing. elise took care of her niece and nephew, went to college, joined the church, raised james when her husband was abusive, worked for merrill lynch, transferred to l.a., met me and the rest is history. she is not the exception.
robert her nephew doesn't know his dad, his sister is from a different dad, they were both raised in the ghetto, mom was in jail for pushing, grandma was raising them for a while, yet robert got a mentor and went to duke university and got his degree and now works for goldman sachs and travels to japan and spain and san fran and miami . susie went to college and got her degree and has 2 beautiful children.
you can do better than mike tyson. at least he has millions to pay for shrinks and help.

Even Ali lost some fights Sukka. But to answer your question, Lewis and Holyfield were the only fights he fought who came close to matching his skills. As for Douglas, by that time Tyson was suffering from the influences of hubris and outside factors (King and Givens.)
yet robert got a mentor
That's right. He had SOMEONE who loved him. I would assume your wife did too. Aside from Cus D'amato, Tyson hasn't had anyone and Cus didn't have enough time to influence him like he needed to be influenced. I'm not making excuses for the man, I'm just saying he didn't get a fair shake in life and of course there's the mental problems I mentioned before. He can have all the money in the world, but if he doesn't WANT help there's nothing his money can do for him.
There but for fortune........

Mike Tyson is a Hot Mess!!! I mean really not only has he raped someone, he also bites off body parts and sounds like a girl when he talks. I hate to hear his voice. I would love to see him in the ring with the old Muhummad Ali. He would put a tap on that behind. But Mike like everyone else who does wrong will face final judgement in the end...until then, he can continue to entertain us with his antics.

zeta lady ! yes!!!! you get it!
ive - it really sounds like you are the official apologist for mike sometimes. let him take some responsibility for his actions. we can have some compassion for him and people of similar situations, but it's so hard to feel for a guy who's claim to fame is hurting people, personally and professionally.
i would have more compassion and understanding if he wouldn't say the disgusting things he said.
