the horrible catastrophic sequence of these tornadoes in missouri, kansas, and nebraska are leaving piles of rubble and families mourning the losses of life and property. bodacious lives in that neck of the woods- i hope she's okay. i feel bad for the folks in the midwest right now. i also know tornadoes are a common occurence in texas, tennessee, mississippi, and hurricanes too. thank goodness we get 0 tornadoes and hurricanes in california!

Here's a look at what I lived through last night............ Behind my apt. Part of gas station roof torn off Had 100 mph wind beating hail against my window at 2:30 this morning. I was in the bathroom with the cats for two hours. At one point I got up enough nerve to come out of the bathroom and look out the window and it looked like it had snowed there was so much hail on the ground. One of the scariest things I've ever lived through. I'm convinced a tornado went through because all those trees you see down (and there were more) were in a path.

I glad you are okay Ivory. I worried about you on Sunday and Monday. My minister and his wife and children just drove back from Jackson on Sunday. They were there for a funeral and were lucky enough to miss the terrible weather. Charlotte had bad storms with winds up to 70 miles an hour and hail, and lightning, damage on Friday and Saturday evenings, but nothing compared to the devastation in Missouri, Kansas and Tennesee. My prayers go out to all the families that lost loved ones and their homes or businesses.

What do you mean you can see me and the cats in the bathroom Aba? You got a camera hidden in there or somethin'? ;D
Sukka, the flooding isn't life-threatening, but can now go fishing in my back yard.
My poor Mom called me at 6:30 this morning (she tried to lie and say it was 7:30 just because she was calling from the Eastern time zone) she was crying telling me that another tornado was coming. Turns out it was WAY south of here and I don't think it did any damage but she was still worried.
Other than being scared sh*t-less, the worst part was the lack of sleep everyone is running on. I hadn't even gone to bed when the storms came through and didn't go to sleep until 4am, then got up at a quarter til 8. By 9pm last night I was out like a light. The only thing that saved me was two big naps I had Sunday.

Dbaby, I'll tell you the same thing I told my mother when she said I should have called them at 2:30 in the morning .............. there wasn't much anyone could have done. Also, it wasn't really good driving weather for me to drive home, that was my mother's second question.

There is not much you can do when you're caught in one of those except try to find cover. You were in the right place Ivory. And yes I could see you in there crying and everything. I felt so bad for you! What were the cats doing? Did you get in the tub with a mattress over your heads? Inquiring minds want to know how you survived!

Well, LOL, we're teetering on the edge of too much information, but Daniel made one of his little claws bloody from ratteling the cage on his carrier for two hours. That's where I had the cats, in their carriers. I don't know what drove me more insane, the hail or him. And here we go again............ tornado watch until 6am!

Ivory, after living through Hurricane Hugo, I'm still a little jumpy when it comes to storms. We had to spend part of Friday evening in the bathroom waiting out a 'microburst' storm that bordered on tornadic conditions. Power lines and trees down, 70 miles an hour winds, golf ball sized hail in some areas, heavy lightning - you know the routine. We had a street festival the "Taste of Charlotte" that was just getting started at the time. Many of the vendors and local artists lost a lot of crafts, food, and equipment when the winds wiped out their tents. We have about 7 straight days of stormy weather predicted - some severe. After the "Ice Storm", that left us without power for 5 days and my house getting hit by lightning on Christmas Eve, I've discovered that this is not my idea of fun

Oh yeah. I am OVER this! ............ I had enough of this "fun" 12 years ago when I was in a little shopping mall and a tornado tore the roof off of it while I was inside. I am SO sleepy but don't want to go to bed until this latest band of thunderstorm passes. Right now it's passing through where I work, hope I have a job to go to tomorrow!
