Yes, I did it... maybe about four times! I have lived the American Dream! ;D
Well it wasn't anything bad... well doing it that is. I managed to slice my left middle finger removing a pan that catches stuff from the line to clean it and I moved it out and it slide over the pan before it making it leave the tracks. I removed the first one and tried to straighten out the second when it fell and pinched my finger against the surrounding metal. It was a fairly deep cut but it didn't stop me. I picked the pan from the floor and proceeded to spray the line and the pans down while I had my finger wrapped in a paper towel. I asked one of the supervisors for a band aid... he gave me two and I put one on and notcied I'd socked though that one, so I wrapped the second one over it and my finger stopped bleeding. I put a glove on anyway in case it bled more.
Later, I hit that finger while cleaning up and it kind of burned. I didn't pay it any attention and kept spraying and drying the floor. Then before I went to pack the left over donuts, I noticed the middle finger in the glove was completely red with a little amount collected at the tip and both band aids (which originally were blue) were dark purple. I went to the boss to ask him for more band aids and he asked what I'd done, so I showed him my hand. I know that surprised him. "What the hell did you do?!" His tone surprised me and I had to laugh but I explained it to him and he had me take off the glove and band aids to look at it. We went to the front office where he brought out the big first aid kit, put some iodine on it and that's where he told me to get the other fingers out the way. I told him I didn't want to flick him off but I had to. He cleaned it and put a stronger band aid on it.
I did the left over donuts and the blood continued to leak through that band aid too, so Detric got the kit out again, ordered me to flick him off, and this time he wrapped it up quite heavily. He told me to be more careful with the machinery since some parts are sharp. He suggested that I see a doctor for it. I'm not sure about that... Maybe it'll stop bleeding or has. I see a little red but it's not soaked. Anyway, that was the event of my day today!

I meant to come back and explain what happened the next day. No I didn't get stitches although I probably should have. I told my grandmother that night it had happened and she called my mother before she went to work in the morning. I was off last Tuesday and when I woke up I was told my mother would come and take me to Patient First... never mind I have my aunt's car and could go myself IF I had wanted to. The bleeding had stopped and that was all that mattered to me, but they were saying get it looked at so I wouldn't get an infection... my mother said I came in this world with six fingers on each hand (yes I said six.. no we're not inbred) and had those removed and I shouldn't have to lose another finger. So she took me. Once there, when I was called, the receptionist asked me if it was work related. I said yes. She asked me where I worked and I told her and told her the one in Ashland not the store in the city. She called their and talked to one of the managers who told her I should go to this place called Concentra. So we went there... after riding around in the wrong direction and for other miles. There, they asked me if I had papers. I didn't. I didn't know anything about having papers. I was forced to get my finger looked at and ended up there. They called the managers in Ashland and one of them talked to me saying a reported needed to have been filled out the night before, but Detric, the manager on then hadn't. He told me to get it looked at but didn't tell me I needed to go to a specific place. So, after that, the people sent us up the street a few blocks to the KK store to get some papers for the drug test, company policy. Now before that, they had given the guys in Ashland their fax number where they could fax the form there. I guess they didn't have them in Ashland. I don't know. Anyway we went to the KK store, asked for the manager. I explained I was sent for a form and she went to get it... while remarking, "You guys are always hurting yourselves up there." I had no idea... She gave me the form and told me she was glad none of us worked there. Which made me and my mother laugh. We returned to Concentra to find out we got the wrong form. This really didn't sit well with my mother and she asked them why I needed to have a drug test for a finger and told them she heard them give their fax number, why couldn't they have faxed the form? The people there told us it was proceedure and they could use the form from the store and scratch out the address (which I think they'd have to have done had we gotten the right form). So I was seen... breathilizer and drug test... then the doctor saw me. He asked when I had done it. I told him somewhere between 4 and 5 PM the day before (actually I should have said between 5 and 6 because it was closer to lunch, but didn't matter). The doctor looked at me and asked why did I wait so long. I responded I didn't think it was that serious, it was just another one of my scratched and cuts, plus I didn't know. He told me it's best to get cuts examined withing eight hours. It was after 4PM, way after the eighth hour. He picked at it and couldn't pry the little flat open and said it's already begun healing and that I wouldn't have really needed stitches. he simply put Neosporin on it and put another band aid on it and that was it. He asked when was the last time I had a tetnus shot, to which I replied about 1996. He said at least I didn't have lock jaw so things were alright and asked if I wanted to have another. I said yes. Got it. he sent me on my way with more band aids and Neosporin packets. Then we had to take the papers written up there to Ashland. By this time it was rush hour and my mother was thrilled. So we went, I dropped off those papers and had to fill out more papers saying the same thing and I showed Roger the manager who'd given me the first band aid what I had done in the production room. *Side note: while waiting for the papers and stuff, some of the truckers had reported Luther had died, but when I got home my grandmother told me that the news had just said he was still alive and stated his condition.* Then we returned home. , exhausted over a finger. Well Wednesday, I noticed that the cut had come open again, but wasn't bleeding. I remarked about it and the supervisor said I'd gotten it wet, which I had... how could I not after showering and washing my hands during the day, getting whichever band aid wet. I week later, it hasn't resealed but it's less sore and I guess I'll have this smiley face scar on my left middle finger. I don't know... thanks for asking Kim. Ivory, I assure you, things are fine. To quote the wording on the trucks, "Eat Krispy Kreme." Still the best around.

I know all about Concentra I think they specifically work with Workman's Compensation patients and they do drug testing of new or existing employess for companies. Any accident that occurs on a job is supposed to be filed and the person who had the accident must take a drug test to see if the employee is under the influence which will determine if the company is liable or if the employee is. I worked with Workman's compensation when I worked for United Airlines. I'm glad that your finger is better its going to take some time before the soreness goes away.

HAHA since we wear gloves you wouldn't have to worry about that.I brought home some blueberry filled donughts last night. I had no idea they would be that good. I think I just like the taste of unglazed shells. It's like eating bread with jelly.
Thanks Kim. Well it wasn't drugs or alcohol for sure. We had a safety meeting yesterday. I asked if the pans were supposed to be concave and I was told no. So that would make it much more easy and less dangerous if they were to get flat ones.

I loved the video too. I remember she walked in the house with a BAD leather dress and fur coat and walked out with a t-shirt and ugly spandex pants and a shopping bag. LOL!!!!!
