With Marvin Gaye entering his self imposed exile, David Ruffin entering HIS semi-exile and Stevie Wonder starting to come into his own, but not fully in control yet, guess who could've been THE male voice at Hitsville. (MJ and Jermaine don't count, but they were soulful too!) Or who goes up against people like Pickett, JB, the IceMan,etc... I'm OK, I'm going back to my bat-cave to work on some stuff, so I'm just taking a break! Holy REUNION CD's ,BATMAN ! What did you do with them ?.......Ask the Riddler......Riddle me this,Batman.....where's the Reunion cd? And don't tell me Alfred has it!

Now I've got a question for you:
Do you think David could've sung Dennis's songs as well as Dennis sung David's?

Good question. Anybody?
I personally don't think he could've pulled it off as well.

Now I've got a question for you: Do you think David could've sung Dennis's songs as well as Dennis sung David's? I think David would do Dennis so differently. The approach is different. I think David's voice can do them, but Dennis has that thick churchy rasp, where as David has that middle churchy raspy. I think David can do Dennis, but I don't think it would be the same. I think we'd miss that thickness.

david definitely would give the song a different flavor. 2 distinct voices, dennis was obvoiusly forced to do david's parts during his tempts' tenure.
i would've liked to see them when it was eddie dennis and david -to hear the voices all together.

Sukka, if you don't already have it, pick up the Live CD of one of the last concerts David, Eddie and Dennis did together. It's great! The Tempts Review Fairy gave it to me and I LOVE it!!!! 10-am.com/

My thing is this . . . It's hard to compar any of them, but it must be done. They are all great, but what makes them better are the comparisons. I think the less we compare them, the less great they are. The more we compare the more alive they become and more good we see in them.

I don't care who they are! Listen, I haven't heard Glenn sing "just My Imagination" but I know the brother can sing it. It might not the orignal it don't mean it won't be great and be able to compete. All I know is this: The the tempts singers are so good they make a good man wanna slap his mama. hahahahahaha. C'mon, Mike, you know the brothers are all great. Now, are they as great as the HOF6? One will never know, because people hold the HOF6 in such high esteem. But I know, these other brothers can blow. And can make these songs sound great. These songs compete. And as a singer, I am jealous of all this good singing. My father is the first Black Officer in the fire dept in my home town and the first officer period in my home town. People compare every black firfighter to him. And while he is the first and the most known, even he says it's unfair. He rides a certain wave of popularity, notariety, and more, because he was first. But even he says that he's not the best. He was just the best 40 years ago.

I heard Glenn sing it and he does a good job,the best I heard.....next to Eddie Kendricks! You just don't know how good the Tempts were back then. That's why you say what you say,I understand that, you're only going by what you heard. But you are having a hard time dealing with GC and you don't know what he's about! I know that these brothers can blow, but they can't hang with the HOF 6! No contest,no way. I've seen them blow away the competition too many times without trying. You say that you want me to give the others credit for holding it down, yet you don't want to give GC a chance,a veteran preformer who has paid is dues, worked the Chitilin Circut. Knows how to pace himself on the road, unlike Bo,Woodson, or Theo! What gives here?

Hey, as far as Gc goes, I'm giving him slack because I like the guy whose leaving. After hearing him (GC) on that PBS thing, you darn right that I hace concerns. He wasn't sounding good. I'm about the sound. I love the singers. If Bo goes, then that's fine if you find a great singer to replace him. Dennis was replaced with Ali a great singer. David was REPLACED by Dennis, a great singer. Now you you listen to that GC stream, you would have the same reservations.
So, I believe in giving the singers a shot. Just not one's that can't compete. Know, I have no doubt that you love the tempts and have great history with them. You know the the tempts and I love that. But I'm down with the Tempts as singers. All of them. YOu can't replace a David Ruffin unless you get somebody who is on the level. Now, if you want to say something about David, that says more about David than just saying he's good. The fact that one has to find the best of the best to replace him is a feet. And that's what makes him so good. And that's what makes the others so good.

A great singer could never replace a great singer. Dennis didn't replace David,Dennis made a name for himself by being himself and making hits! Not just one either. Nobody else made that impact on the group.....Woodson included!

g.c. cameron will win some new fans pretty soon. the man is a motown crony back in the day. he will move at least as good as otis and can still hold a tune. he won't embarrass the group. bo was a nice talented fellow and will be remembered for his major hit contributions for at least one or two months. ;D

It's been said all over this board that Otis keeps the group going by selecting the best singers to continue the Temptations name. Now all of a sudden you're worried about his judgement.
