David was supposed to send the rest of the money to Dennis & Eddie,he shared 10 vials of crack with the lomo driver and passed out. David had a money belt that had 40,000 dollars in travelers checks and contracts in a briefcase...all gone. Cause of Death Adverse reaction to cocaine. Still didn't find the money. That's seems strange to me because a crackhead with that much money in travelers checks would draw attention, unless they had someone expecting them that could exchange the loot without drawing attention. Mike, someone who knew David told me that the checks were cashed before left Great Britain, because David didn't want to take the chance of being stiffed by the promoter once he came back to the States. Now how he was able to cash Dennis and Eddie's checks without their signatures, I don't know, but I was told he definitely cashed them before he came home. A day or two later Eddie was home in ATL and called my friend and asked him if he had heard anything from David, since my friend lives in Philly where David was living with Diane. Eddie had supposedly first called Diane, but she couldn't tell Eddie anything because she had no information. My friend told Eddie no, that he hadn't heard anything from David. Eddie left a message with my friend for David to call him immediately, just in case he turned up. Next thing you knew, you heard that David was dead in a Philly hospital emergency room.

The police said traveler's checks. The way I got it,David never cashed it. This is what kills me about this whole thing. Nobody really knows what happened, other than David SUPPOSEDLY ODing on crack, which I have always had a problem with....mainly because no one was able to find any trace of the money that he was carrying on him! The whole story just doesn't add up. Like Paul's death, there are too many holes.

If he indeed did ODin a crack den, you can best believe that if in fact he was carrying cash or checks they would have been taken by whoever was in the crack den at the time...trust me........I've seen peoplerobbed laying on the ground hurt......I've seen people go to airplane crash sites to steal from the dead.....they took the championship ring off one of my teammates hands who died in a crash....you think an addict ain't gon steal fromsomebody right next to him?

No, that's not what I'm saying. I don't want to say that David might have been murdered, but whoever took that money knew he had it on him and made sure he was in such a state where he couldn't do anything to stop them...I'm just rambling, Aba, don't mind me. This whole thing about David's death has always bothered me for some reason.

Me too Diva, there are two ways to look at it...either somebody got him in that state and took advantage of it, or he got himself in that state and somebody saw an opportunity and took advantage of it.....for sure if he went in that pouch within the wall of the crack den, plans were going to hatched as soon as anyone in there saw all that money.........

And at a time when David,Dennis&Eddie were getting some attention....things were getting ready to happen. Same thing with Paul....attempting to comeback...and recording with David,Eddie,Dennis....& Jimmy Ruffin.....things to be depressed about .....or..things to look upbeat and positive about? And think....these two deaths...can't even get an "Inside Edition"or, "E" True Story...programs like that....VH1 Behind The Music. Why...is there something to hide?...Won't draw enough viewers?

The same goes for the Cooke murder and the Redding crash. I read somewhere that they were thinking about investigating the Redding files in an attempt to rule out theories of sabotage.

Man, I forgot all about this thread. ;D There is another question about David's death that nobody seems to want to talk about. What ever happened to the limo driver? Who was he? Did HE od? Did he get clean and ever comment on being at the scene in question? Did he go into hiding in a cave in the middle east somewhere?

Here's how it happened: David was in the crack house with his limo driver friend, Donald Brown. The police had interrogated Donald Brown, and he told them that he and David had been there smoking crack for about three hours when David said he wasn't feeling well. The guys told him to lie down on the sofa, which he did. Supposedly, after about ten or fifteen minutes, they went to check on him again and found him unconĀscious. Donald Brown then took him to the hospiĀtal at 2:55 a.m. Donald Brown first took David to the "day door" of the hospital and found it locked. He then dragged him around to the Emergency Room entrance, where he left David on the cement outside and went in to get some staff members. He was passed out when they rushed him in, and he never regained consciousness. He had not been beaten up. They tried to revive him but couldn't and he was pronounced dead at 3:55 a.m.
This is from the book of Genna Sapia Ruffin.

Knowing of David's addiction problems, it was a mistake to give him all the money. Oh, I know the reason that's given for David taking the money back to the U.S.A., but I think it was very foolish to submit him to all that temptation.
As for Paul, he was ill, and he was suffering from deep depression for many reasons, some medical, some caused by his own actions.
