(((CONSTANCE))) What a sweetie! She has one up on me. I wished that I could speak Spanish last week. So many Spanish speaking people around me in conversation and I had no idea. Now, Sukka, you gotta take that baby to Disneyland.

she's been! she'll go again. jonel, we live 12 minutes from legoland in carlsbad, that's her favorite place. she also LOVES the wild animal park and the san diego zoo. she likes knott's berry farm as well. she likes shamu at sea world as well. but on july 15th, constance, and my wife and my 15 yr old daughter are flying to oahu for 12 days. i get to stay home with my 17 yr old son which means i'll probably be home alone for most of the time, and he'll only be home to sleep and to tie up the home phone line. ;D

Well, I chose the handle DIVA because I am a future fashion designer, and I want the ladies who wear my clothes to feel like divas in them. Actually, the full screenname is DramaticsLJDiva. The "LJ" is for L.J. Reynolds of the Dramatics. He is on Street Gold, you know...the short, light-skinned guy wearing the silk black shirt. He talks about "The CRACK in David's voice", then sings a-capella version of "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" before David Jr. appears and sings a line in the song. This guy! Sukka, talking about those ribs and chicken wangs is making me hungry!

Hey Diva, for some very strange reason, I don't know how I know this, but I think that you LOVE The Dramatics. I may be wrong but I'm guessing. ;D

Hey FUF, now how did you figure that out? ;D LOL just kidding. Yes, I LOOOOOVVVVVVVE the Dramatics. I currently have two websites on them and post at the Dramatics' QuickTopic board. I am a self-confessed fan who has seen the group in concert and met four of the members. If there's a cure for this, I don't want it.

Aww, just go ahead and burst my bubble why don't ya! ...... Somehow that just takes something away from the song to think that David Ruffin was the inspiration for "My Girl." Hmmm......... So I'll just pretend he wrote it for me!!!! ;D And so Tamla was named for the record company and not the other way around? Am I all confused?

Ok children gather 'round, it's time for Sunday school .....
Genesis chapter 16
1 Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar. 2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. 3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
15 And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
Now the story goes that Ishmael is the ancestor of the Muslims and of course Abraham's son Isaac is the ancestor of the Jews and that's why they are still fighting to this day.
Ok, now it's time to sing "Jesus Loves the Little Children" and then we'll have our cookies and Koolaid.

kalisa2, Thanks for the 411 on My Girl. I read in O's book that Smokey was going to record that with his group. I'm glad The Tempts did it. It's still a sweet story. LOL-Ivory, Quotes from the Bible, good touch for us sinners. You are right about the kool-aid, I like crystal lite better.

I read an article, written by someone who was there, that Smokey wrote "My Girl" with his feelings for his wife in his mihd.

I also read that Smokey had David in mind to sing it because it's such a sweet, syrupy song that he wanted a voice with somewhat rough sound to counteract the sweetness.
And that same reason may be why he did not sing it with the Miracles.
Whatever the reasons, that simple song haunts anyone who hears it.

Out of all the songs Smokey has written, My Girl might go down as his greatest. Whom ever he wrote it for and for whatever reason.
