I think my mother paid something like $1.60-something for regular unleaded last time I saw her getting gas, at the Flying J. It might as well be a ten dollars a gallon the way she acts about letting a sister borrow the car on the weekend. ;D

I was looking today since I was ordered to get gas today... it can be anything from $1.59 to $1.83... it's funny how cheap gas is where the rich people live here... North of Richmond I noticed $1.60's for the three grades... then in Richmond it's in the $1.70's up to that $1.83 around the corner from me at the BP for their premium. Then south of the city where the snobs are out in Midlothian they get the cheapest and sometimes FREE!

FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS! REGULAR UNLEADED-AVG= $2.15 SUPER=$2.39 LOWEST IS $2.05 $2.25 FOR SUPER I HAVE A SPORTS CAR-V8-GETS 16 MPG IN TOWN, 22 FREEWAY IF I DON'T GUN IT. I CAN ONLY BUY PREMIUM. OUCH AND A HALF! WE CONSUME MORE GAS THAN ANY OTHER STATE-IN FACT WE USE 13% OF THE U.S.A TOTAL- THAT'S 1 STATE OUT OF 50!!! THAT'S WHY THEY MURDER US AT THE PUMPS. SAN DIEGO PRICES ARE HIGHER IN THE RICH AREAS LIKE DEL MAR AND LA JOLLA-$2.25-$2.35 FOR REGULAR. ESCONDIDO IN THE MIDDLE CLASS AREA IS 20 CENTS CHEAPER.

I REMEMBER WHEN DAD WAS UPSET BECAUSE THEY RAISED GAS TO 39 CENTS A GALLON, AND THE GUY WOULDN'T DO AS GOOD A JOB WIPING YOUR WINDHSIELD AND CHECKING YOUR OIL.. THAT WAS IN THE LATE 60'S. FOR $2.25 A GALLON, YOU GET NOTHING BUT REAMED AND YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF! I LOOKED AT MY GAS RECEIPTS FROM JAN 2002- I PAID 1.11 PER GALLON. IT'S 1.20 PER GALLON MORE IN A YEAR! WE ALSO HAVE 42 CENTS A GALLON TAX-18 FEDERAL AND 24 CENTS CALIF! THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT THE FREEWAY!

SOME MEMBERS OF CONGRESS HAD SUGGESTED TO PRES BUSH THAT HE TAKE AWAY THE TAXES ON GAS TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY SO FOLKS COULD DRIVE MORE AND PEOPLE WOULD TRAVEL MORE. THE GOVT AND THE STATE GOVTS CRIED BECAUSE THEY LOVE TO SCREW WITH OUR TAX $$$$
IN CALI-WE COULD BE PAYING AS LOW AS $1.65 TO $1.85 -WHICH WOULD HELP.
BUT BUSH IS AN OIL MAN. SO......PLEASE BEND OVER AND INSERT GAS NOZZLE......

About $1.55
I remember when gas was anywhere from 69-83 cents per gallon. When did gas start going up? Was it 1999 or 2000?

diva, gas started going up during the 6 day war 1973. gas went from 30 cents to 1.00. then it went back down to around 50 cents until 1979 when the opec countries did their deal and cut back and iran had ayatollah khomeini and held the american hostages. then it was long lines and odd -even license plates. gas was back up around 1.00
it's been down in 1998 and then went up in 1999-2001-then it went down in late 2001-early 2002. then it went up again.

remember when gas was anywhere from 69-83 cents per gallon. So says the lucky Georgia resident. My mother always makes a big deal about stopping in Elajay, GA which is a little pit-stop off of I-24 from Chattanooga to Nashville (yes, you go through Georgia if you're driving from Chattanooga to Nashville, don't ask me why.) You save a whole nickle per gallon on gas. I've never understood the fascination. ............ Now if you wanna buy a lotto ticket and become a millionare while you're there buying cheap gas, that's another matter. But for some reason my mother never suggests that I buy a lotto ticket. I just paid $1.56. Gas hasn't shot up a bunch since all of this hub-bub today, but maybe nothing will happen until tomorrow.
