I did a little research...not a lot out there, though! If Genna didn't think David wrote it, how does she explain the "possible" recording of it in 1958 on her website in the discography? (Especially with the copyright date of 1962.) gruffproductions.tripod.com/discography.htmlBut then, she must be unsure because she actually posted a message on a discussion board about it. (This must be where Kalisa saw that she didn't believe he wrote it. Nice slam on "Neo Temptation" fans.) www.mandymusic.com/discussion/_discussion/00001187.htmI think this is the response... www.mandymusic.com/discussion/_discussion/00001166.htmWhen I go to the BMI website to search on "Jan Crutchfield," they have "Name It After Me" listed as the legal title....and Crutchfield definitely as the writer. I can't find anywhere that mentions how David's name became attached to it. Sometimes when I person rewrites something or "arranges" it differently, they can attach their name to it. But I know when David performed it live on a few videos, he would say it was a song he wrote when was 18. (I think?) Weird.....I'll keep poking around, but obviously Genna had no luck either. Peach

Thanks for looking, Peach . I hadn't seen that particular posting by Genna, but I had seen her say on a bulletin board somewhere that David never wrote a song in his life, as far as she knew.
That just goes to show you Genna doesn't know everything.. Just because she spent a number of years wth him doesn't mean she knew every inch of his life. I apologize for half bashing the lady... but I don't view her as Davids voice from the grave. The point is its a terrific song no matter sho wrote it... Im going to try to find what the reporter said who wrote the interview(sp) of David... Sorry guys

Well, I guess it doesn't matter who wrote it, I just know that I love this song!!! And, thanks to Mike, I can listen to it everyday!!!!!!! I was able to do a quick listen to the Solo Years CDs last night. I'm *dying* over here!!!! So many good songs I don't even know where to begin. Of course, now my daughter is upset because I have "Keep On Truckin" on CD, and I can play it really loud and dance to it. For an Eddie fan, she sure does dislike that song. 1#-)
Mike, you rule!!!!!!! You have no idea how tickled I am! Thank you TONS! Peach

As crazy as this sounds, I put one of the CDs in the player and I *still* can't believe I have it. I'm loving pretty much every song on the set! It's like Christmas, baby! Peach
