I love this song...almost as much as "Walk away from Love" and "I Could Never Love Another, After Loving You"... but one thing I didn't know...and recently found out was that David wrote this song. David's got skills ...whew!!
What do you all think about this song?
Did David write many of his own songs?

If you haven't seen street gold video then you miss the great part where Eddie says that he loved seeing David sing that song because he always came to a "pose position" whaen he sang the chorus of Statue. He would stop and just pose. I think it's a great song.

I'm also a huge fan of this song!!! When David performs it on the "Dancing in the Street" video, he does that same "pose" during the song. The lyrics tear me up..... and it's number 2, right after "My Whole World Ended (the Moment You Left Me)"  Peach |

There is a controversy as to weather David wrote the song. Nine years after he's dead,almost twenty years after he recorded it. Go figure! You know they don't like to speak well about David Ruffin. |

On the LP that the song was on,David was the only one credited with the tune,Ruffin said he wrote it,Eddie Kendricks said Ruffin wrote it. My question is why wait for Ruffin to die to say otherwise ? |
