Come on now Diva, let's not debase cats, you and I both know they are NOT animals, they're some kind of non-human diety creature sent to us by God to bring a more tranquil, zen-like existance for our lives......... .......... and to also get fur all over everything. Dbaby, the people who were pulled over didn't call the police, someone who worked at the gas station the family had just left called and said that the family robbed someone else. The question I have is why did the gas station folks think the family had robbed someone just because the wallet fell off the car. We obviously don't know the whole story.

Here's a follow-up to the dog-shooting story....
Dramatic videotapes were released on Tuesday that show a Cookeville Police Officer shooting a family dog. It happened last week when authorities stopped the family as they travelled through Tennessee.
News 2's Nancy Hauskins brought you the response from the Cookville Police. And, if you watch the video clip attached to this story, be aware that some of the video is graphic.
It was New Years Day when a family was on their knees being cuffed for a crime they didn't commit. Then the family dog jumped out of the car and their pet was shot.
In the video, just before the shooting, the family can be heard asking the officers to close the car door to prevent their bulldog Patton from jumping out.
It was Cookeville Police Officer Eric Hall who shot the dog. He said he felt threatened.
Cookeville Police Chief Bob Terry,"We were under the assumption, wrong though that may have been, that there was a possible felony that may have been committed. They didn't have the luxury of the time to make a determination. Their primary concern was people and not the animals. "
Hall has now been taken off the streets while an independent investigation sorts things out.
The traffic stop was based on a cell phone call from a woman claiming she saw money flying from a speeding car. We now know the money came from a wallet that the driver accidentally left on the roof. It was $400 in traveling cash...10's and 20's.
Now investigators want to know how a North Carolina family went from losing a wallet to losing a beloved pet.
Commissioner of Safety, Jerry W. Scott explained, "If there were a procedural problem it was a misinterpretation between the Nashville Dispatch Center and the Cookeville Dispatch Center. That information regardless of where it got mis-scued, the trooper got the bottom line information and that is what he acted upon. So we're reviewing our policies."
News 2 talked with James and Pamela Smoak Wednesday evening from their home in North Carolina. They say they are not happy with the police response. They plan to come to Nashville to pursue the case in civil court.

.......... and more, the lady who initally called police, saw the station wagon "travelling about 110 miles an hour" and saw the money flying from the roof of the car. Assuming it was a robbery, she called 911 and the call was then dispatched through several agencies who blew the story out of porportion making it into some kind of violent robbery.

That sounds like that game we used to play in elementary school called "Gossip." A person at one end of the line says something, and by the time it gets to the other end of the line, it's completely different.

if those folks were actually traveling at 110 mph, that lady would've seen ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. the g force of a car at that velocity would've actually brought the wallet flying forward and not backward . so she was a lonely tale spinner and she should get to meet up close the surviving dog in a room for 5 minutes with perfume called eau de ground round!
