san marcos is now sand muck ooze, with clay for soil, the water has nowhere to go but flow and flood. lots of accidents and damage.
we are desperate for rain, but most is runoff in the desert so it does little good.

it's clearing out today. we had rain this morning, but it's sunny and big puffy clouds right now.
supposed to be nice in the next few days. dry and 70's.
the soil out here is very rocky and clay. this is not porous material , people, and since the rain is few and far between, the ground is hard and dry, so it soaks not, but runoff.

blizzards occur in syracuse, buffalo especially, because of the great lakes-you get lake-effect snow, which drops tons of moisture from the lakes frozen up in the cold atmosphere and it is a messy blizzard.
30 inches is not the record!
we started raining again this evening. another shower passing through the night.

cadeho-your new photo is cool.
we went to big bear and the snow was falling wednesday night after we got there. we were up around the 8,000 foot level! the snow came down like dippendots-like little pellets from a box of laundry soap. it was so dry up there that even though the temperature was in the 30's it was seemingly warmer. elise and i threw a few snowballs, fired up the ifreplace in the chateau, and had a nice couple of days away from it all.
the snow melted somewhat the next day, and when we left big bear lake today it was 52-and when we descended down to sea level by san bernardino-riverside area-it was 79 degrees and palm trees again! only in southern california can you drive 2 hours in any direction and have snow, desert sand, ocean surf, farms, and mountains and valleys!

Thanks... I think that'll be the last pic I use unless I take or find any other good ones. Two hours in any direction here doesn't offer a lot but the beauty of the ancient Blue Ridge and the Chesapeake or Atlantic... metroplois and... the uneventful Va/Nc border...

i looked in MY car all day and i still couldn't find your sunglasses!
we're supposed to rain tonight, and tomorrow, and then be nice for the rest of the week.
the hills in so.cali are usually brown most of the year, but the feb-april time they're plush green from the rain.
