Well Isaih should have played those other guys. It was only an all-star game and he coached it like a playoff game. Kobe is the best because he has three rings. He shows up when the game is on the line all the time. I mean all the time, just like MIke once did. He can score from anywhere on the floor and he makes his teamates better when he plays which is the true sign of a champion. He can score big or put a triple double on you any night he wants.

I'll have to agree with all that except for the bold part. The twelfth man on the bench has rings, too, doesn't he? ;D

IRLM...the 12th man on a team's job is to come to practice everyday on time, not cause problems and be ready to play if called on. When I won championships we told our 11th and 12th men that before the season and if they weren't prepared to do that let us know and we will put two others in their place. It's a common practice that shouldn't be read as something arrogant but you normally have an 8 man rotation and the others play only in foul trouble situations and out of hand games. If you can do that you get a ring otherwise.......see ya!!!!!!! ;D ;D

I know Ko-bay is talented. I was saying that he's not the best because he has three rings; he has three rings because he might be the one of the best. I used to like the guy and I respect every bit of his skills.
So when you say one of a kind, what do you mean? Like, there's only one Kobe Bryant or like he's the only one with a great deal of talent in the NBA, 'cause the latter is how I read that.

There is a maturity and a mentality that goes along with winning. Once you taste it, you don't ever wan to be without it. He raised his game as the Lakers were floundering and single handedly kept them treading water until Shaq got back. Did you see the hug Shaq gave him when they were introduced. They are now on the same page all the way around. I believe Trcey McGrady has as much or more talent than Kobe but he doesn't know how to win yet. And sure he doesn't have Shaq but he has to learn how to use the oothers on his team and not feel that he has to do it alone every night. There is so much more to being a great plyer than just scoring points. It took Mike 7 years to learn that! Screamin and yellin at his temmates and ignoring people like Big Bill Cartwright was detrimental to the team. Once he involved the others, he began to win. It's taken Kobe 5 or 6 years to learn that and now he's helped the Lakers win 3 ring. Some night they need his scoring, some nights his D, some nights he has to do it all and some nights he has to let others do it. Hehas learned all of that and learned it well. He is humble and he knows the game and respects it. It is not the same old Kobe you knew when he was younger. He has grown into the game as a man an I love what I see. I did not mean he was better than everybody else but he is the best player in the league not 7ft tall.
By the way, there is only one Kobe and the league wants it that way. If there were more than one he wouldn't be special. That's why when you look at the schedule you check out when he will be in town with his team and plan accordingly but if there were more than one, what would be the big deal? They don't want another Michael. We've all ready seen him. If you want to be the next superstar, then you got to bring something new to the table. Ask Vince Carter.

Whoops, Aba. I was asking sukkafu, 'cause he said KB8 was one of a kind. I was trying to figure out what he meant. Sorry about that. So how many 7 ft. players are there in the league that actually play? You said single-handedly. He was out there by himself?

You let me type all that stuff and you were talking to sukkafu!!!!!! ;D ;D
7footers who play......Duncan, Garnett, Ming, Nowitski, Bradley, Motombo, Robinson, are some and don't quibble with me on an inch here or there, ok! ;D
And yes I said single handedly,,,to quote you or whoever said it, those others couldn't make two with a pencil which is why they played so bad at the begining! ;D ;D

kobe never went to college. michael did. kobe has intelligence. court sense. athleticism and a winning attitude. he is on top and once you're there it's hard to pry him off the throne. need a crowbar and dynamite.
kevin garnett is like that. he makes everyone better. he can shoot, shoot 3's, rebound, block, and dish off.
elton brand reminds me of aba. a tough guy to keep out of the paint.

You said the best player under 7 ft., which would be pretty good considering a great percentage of the players in the league are under that height. I was just concerned; I was thinking that there were way more players over 7 ft. than I thought.
Is it at all possible that KB8 has some of the best supporting players on the Lakers team, so he has all that opportunity to shine and look good? A good support system on the court can make the star/s look extra-good. Maybe somebody like T-Mac doesn't have that system yet.

That's right! But the support system has to one that accepts their role in supporting the star. It's easy to be Kobe but hard to be the others. I was one of the others who came out of school drafted number 1. all america, MVP, thinking I was all that and then I saw Dr. J in camp and had to re-evaluate my plan. I knew I wouldn't be the star but it didn't mean I couldn't play. The reward for playing the role is a ring. That's what you play for. You will get paid win or lose but all don't get the ring. With the ring come respect for your ability to lead. It comes with opportunities that losers don't get. Do you see anybody from the Bulls doing Sprite commercials? All the rings look alike and say the same thing. If you are the type of idividual who can accept playing a lesser role for the good of the team, then you have a chance at a ring. I am not saying the other guys aren't good. They just aren't as good as Kobe or they would be in his shoes as the leader. They didn't pick him to be on top. He put himself there with his play. My putting him on top does not dimnish the abilties or the respect I have for those who play with him. But somebody has to be the best and he is it.

Not to compare you, Aba, with Otis Williams.. but doesn't that role you played sound familiar? ;D

Without a doubt, TD. Let me say this, I would be Otis in a minute. His award fron the HOF is no different than Dennis, Eddie, David Paul or Melvin. It looks just like theirs and when you say Temptation you say Otis Willams or you can't complete the sentence. So yes our roles are similar. And when you came to see Dr J/David Ruffin, you saw me/Otis Williams. I was never jealous of DrJ and I would venture Otis was never jealous of David Ruffin. If I had I would have been gone in a heartbeat. But I enjoyed playing with the Dr. Even today when he is shown in clips guess who's righ there by his side? Some of us have the mentality and the ability to lay down their pride and do what the best thing for the whole is. I wanted to win and Otis wanted to sing. We both got to do what we wanted

and i lubbs you for it aba!
i think otis has a right to perform. i think it would be nice to have him do a little tribute to the other 4 silent voices. mention them by name when the monologue comes around. then say, if he wants to,'' to continue the legacy, we have ron tyson, harry, bo, terry..''
