Sorry, I'm not a Beatles' fan. I like some of Stevie's songs (Superstitious, Sunshine of My Life, another one I can't remember...), but I've never really been into the Beatles. My parents liked them, and they watched "Beatlemania" on TV some years ago...I tried to get into it but I just couldn't.

See, this airplay thing is precisely the problem. They play them so much, I'd so rather hear Alvin and the Chipmunks. So far, the Temptations, Shirley Bassey, and The Carpenters (among others), and Frank Sinatra have done something the Beatles have failed to do: they make it pleasurable to listen to a Beatles tune! ;D When I first heard their cover of "Twist and Shout" I thought "WHO HATES THE ISLEY BROTHERS SO MUCH THAT THEY'D RUIN THEIR SONG!" Now, I do like John Lennon post-Beatles, I do like "Something" (but I prefer Shirley Bassey's version) and "Let It Be." But other than that, ugh! I don't see what the big fuss is about them. Okay, I'm going to shut up now! Love you lots, Sukka!!!! :comfort: In spite of my Beatles disdain!

love you too! when i was growing up, there were two factions- the beatlemaniacs like me and the rolling stoneheads who hated the beatles and loved the stones.
i liked them both. i still do. i don't listen to their music too often so that it's fresh when i do.
liking the smooth jazzy styles of frank, sammy, dean, shirley, etc is fine with me. i was raised on that stuff- i have every sinatra album since the 40's! yes,on 78! i have jazz at the philharmonic on 78, i have nat king cole when he was just nat cole -on the piano - not singing- playing at jazz at the philharmonic with les paul on guitar. he was awesome.1943-1945 somehwere in that era.
i have charlie parker, dizzy gillespie, lester young, coleman hawkins, ornette cobb, sonny stitt, woody herman, stan getz, boots randolph, maynard ferguson, plas johnson, jj johnson, quincy jones, thelonius monk, freddie hubbard, miles davis, john coltrane, george shearing, louis armstrong, count basie, duke ellington, modern jazz quartet, dexter coleman, max roach, gene krupa, buddy rich, tommy dorsey, jimmy dorsey, paul whiteman, charlie barnett, benny goodman, glenn miller, hoagy carmichael, louis prima. i have others too.

This is something away from music but things that are overrated...a $19 frank. I saw in today's Daily News of a $19 frank at this place called Old Homestead, now that's insane. At Gray's Papaya you can get two great tasting franks plus drink for $2.45. What is this world coming to?

We have a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Denver..... do Denverites really pay that much for their steaks? Or is that a California inflation price?
