This dvd sounds like it's going to be great, I just wish they would include alot more performances, most of these performances have already been seen. I thought it was going to be all of the performances from 1965-1972, which it should've been, but I'll be satisfied with this. Hopefully in the future they can put together a dvd with all of their performances from that time period and after, I mean the "EOS" box set has so many songs, they should be able to put together a DVD boxset with all of their televised performances from 65-72, and even after that if it's not too much of a problem. But it should be good anyway.
I'm really interested in hearing the acapella tracks. Being that "Get Ready" on the karoake cd has Eddie Kendricks on one side and the harmonies & instruments on the next, this one has Eddie and the harmonies on the same side, this should be great. They'll probably have "Since I Lost My Baby" as well, I wonder what other love songs they might have.

Only 15 days left til release in the UK and 23 days for the US. Lucky UK Gets it early!

We would not be able to afford it if they had included all of their filmed performances. But it is good that they are now doing this. I envision we will see more performances. However, some may films may not be in good condition or not have been kept. I would like to see the Tempts all the way to the present. If you remember hearing Paul introduce them at the Copacabana, he used the term "organization." New to the Temptations' organization. And that's what it is. Think of them as the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir--the quality of the organization remains. There are changes in members, there are changes in types of instruments used, there are changes in styles of uniforms, but hard and constant practice and insistence on excellence remains. Think of it as a Mercedes car. (I'm assuming a Mercedes is consistently a quality car.) Some things change, but the excellence, the quality, the performance remains.
Think of it as golf. Technology has changed, players have changed, but you rate each player on his/her performance in his/her time period. And the great always stand out. Each generation builds on what those who went before accomplished. They learn from the past and build more for the future.

Unfortunately, the quality of the material has been anything but consistent over the past four decades. Back to the DVD... CD Universe (whoever that is) is taking pre-orders...very inexpensive, too. They also have a DVD with the Temptations' 2002 induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame (not to be confused with the Rock N' Roll HOF) for those interested.

Tasha is it that serious?LOL Here is a review from someone in The UK. Speaks of the details. There are 16 filmed performances recorded mainly for US TV shows made between 1965 & 1972. This was The Temptations classic period with the famous five line up of David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Otis Williams & Melvin Franklin. When Ruffin was replaced by Dennis Edwards in 1968 the group didn’t miss a beat and went on to achieve even greater success. It starts with their first hit “The Way You Do The Things You Do” and moves through many of the highlights of their career with the likes of “My Girl”, “Get Ready”, “(I Know) I’m Losing You”, “I Wish It Would Rain” one of Ruffin’s greatest ever recordings & “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” which was Kendricks magnificent swansong with the group. Their funk era hits are represented by “Cloud Nine”, “I Can’t Get Next To You” & “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” to name but three. A really nice feature of this DVD is the commentary by Otis Williams before each of the songs which helps to build up a picture of the group and the times in which they lived. The picture quality is most impressive with the sound being even more so. The latter is due to all lip-sync performances having had the mono sound broadcasts removed and replaced with the original Motown stereo master recordings. Very clever indeed. As if all these great performances weren’t enough the DVD also includes bonus material of 15 (audio only) a cappella performances of The Temptations original studio vocal master tracks which were discovered in the Motown vaults. Songs like “My Baby”, “(I Know) I’m Losing You” and my special favourite “You’re My Everything” which showcased Kendricks and Ruffin at their best. In fact stripped back to the bare bones the songs take on a kind of doo-wop feel and you can hear each singer very distinctly. This amazing DVD comes with two more bonuses. An additional 25 minute interview with Otis Williams, who is the only surviving member from the famous five line up, and a 24 page booklet written by GRAMMY wining writer Rob Bowman. The Temptations were one of a kind. A soul group with five great voices whose stage performance was second to none. Sadly we will never see their like again. So “GET READY” to get this DVD, you will not be disappointed. GOT TO GET MINE

Just what I expected, quality all the way. I'm really impressed with the product this company puts out. I realize a great many people were involved; Harry Weinger of Motown found the tracks in the Motown vault, etc. So thanks to all of them.
