Ok, I have contemplating this post for a while. I have read a number of posts that the CD “For Lovers only” was one of the best if not the best CD released by the Tempts in the last few years. Having not heard this particular Cd, I purchased it from Amazon for a measly $6.50. I couldn’t have made a better purchase; this is an Outstanding CD!! Those posts that proclaimed this to be one of the better cds were on point! Now…the reason for this thread. I have always thought (my opinion) that “Phoenix Rising”(released 1998) was the best CD released by the Tempts in the last ten years, now I’m torn, the “For Lovers only”(released 2002) Cd is equally as good or better (of course this is all subjective). On both CD’s from the first song to the last are extremely enjoyable no “weak” cuts. The production and orchestration are superb. I find no fault with these two CDs, definitely worthy of the Temptations. Query… which is better “For Lovers Only” or “Phoenix Rising”?? I know that everyone will not agree, so have at it!!!  |

Yes, Think about it....More ; I believe that "4 Lovers Only" is the last cd with Melvin. His voice is very prominent on this one.

Melvin is only on one song, "Life Is But A Dream" and then "Melvin's Interlude" on FLO.  Ray Davis sang bass on all the other tracks. I prefer "For Lovers Only" to "Phoenix Rising." |

I really love both albums, like you stated no "weak" cuts but I think I will say Phoenix rising because of course........Theo and Terry together are unstoppable IMO. my wedding song is on this CD. track # 6. No serious I don't know why I chose this one.....I listen to it more and it was the CD that proved what the Tempts have proved time and time again.........that the Tempts are here to stay ;D
