Thanks for sharing, I get EUR but I never saw that article. His reflections of what is happening in the US relative to music and morals are definetly on point. I concur wholeheartly with his take on the explicit lyrics in music today....they lack intelligence and depth. The whole hip-hop mentality is one of superficial emptiness, predicated on instant gratification

I agree with Otis, calling a woman a B....

Hey Ivory, The problem is, that if there is positive Hip-Hop that is not what is being propagated over the airwaves.

Can anybody answer this question? In this interview, Otis stated that when they went to Motown and became the Temptations, the line up was, Otis, Elbridge, James, Melvin, Richard. They called themselves Otis Williams and the Distants. I always thought the line up was Otis, Melvin, Elbridge, Eddie and Paul. They call themselves the Elgins. What was the line up and name when they went to Motown to audition and became the Temptations in 1961??

Maybe he was trying to be funny by calling Eddie by his less that popular middle name,James..as in Eddie James Kendricks.

The James that Otis is referring to was James Crawford. The lineup that auditioned at Motown was Elbridge, Otis, Melvin, Eddie and Paul. James, Richard, Elbridge, Otis and Melvin were the group called "Otis Williams and the Distants". They were the group that originally recorded "Come On." James left first, then later Richard.

So,what you are saying is that they didn't get signed to Motown until the superior talent joined forces with Otis,Mel & Al?
