I was SO excited when I found out there was a Dennis version of this song, 'cos the Melvin one is one of my fave Temps songs....but when I got it from this thread I was disappointed - I didn't like Dennis' version at all...
Ah well, even the world's greatest band misses one every now and then. It woulda been better if they'd kept the original instrumental, I reckon

Is it just me or does Blue lisp? "PEOPLE WILL BE HOLDING HANDS, BUILDING CASTLES IN THE THAND(sand)" .. lol "NOW THAT THUMMER(summer) IS HERE." ... Am I the only one catchin that? lol

2ND VERSION OF "IT'S SUMMER"---YES IT WAS 4 OF THEM: DENNIS SINGING LEAD, ALONG WITH RICHARD, OTIS, AND MELVIN SINGING BACKUP. THIS WAS RIGHT AFTER EDDIE KENDRICKS LEFT THE GROUP AND RICKY OWENS COULD HAVE HAD A SHOT AT IT. RUMOR HAS IT THAT HE WAS FIRED FROM THE GROUP SIMPLY BECAUSE HE MESSED UP ON "JUST MY IMAGINATION" AT ONE OF THEIR CONCERTS IN 1971.

It's a Norman Whitfield production, I'm surprised that there were only TWO versions released.
