Live & Lively By Don Wilcock, The Record May 29, 2003 Motown's front-line male soul group The Temptations open the 14th annual Alive at Five Concert series in downtown Albany a week from tonight. The cornerstone of today's version of the group that put Detroit on the musical map is Dennis Edward,s who replaced David Ruffin as lead singer in 1968. With Edwards at the helm, the finger-snapping choreographed soul machine won five Grammy Awards, seven Grammy nominations and 14 gold albums. Their hits included "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," "Memories," "Psychedelic Shack," "Ball of Confusion," Cloud Nine" and "Can't Get Next to You." Opening for the Temptations will be Dona Oxford. Hardly a Motown act, Dona tends towards the rockin' blues end of R&B. The diminutive pianist punches the keys and belts out vocals with the authority of a woman twice her size. She once made our area her home, has toured with Shemekia Copeland and has shared the stage with musicians as varied as Keith Richards and her idol, Johnnie Johnson. I interview her in next week's Steppin' Out.... Courtesy of the Troy Record www.troyrecord.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=8156595&BRD=1170&PAG=461&dept_id=32272&rfi=6

the finger-snapping choreographed soul machine Now THAT'S a good name!!! If Dennis had just chosen that for the name of his group a long time ago we wouldn't have had to go through all that legal stuff!! temptsinfo.com/smilies/wtg.gif I didn't know with Dennis they won five Grammy Awards, hey you learn something new everyday.Yeah, that was news to me too. I bet Dennis and more importantly, Otis are wondering who's got possession of their other two awards.

Uh yeah, he walked up onto the stage with the rest of the Tempts and they handed it to him. Quit being anal about semantics Mikey, only I'm allowed to do that.

That's typical... and the reason Otis went to court over it.

Maybe he can lend the Review some suits that actually fit them. Nobody seemed to mind the fit in NYC ! See they are still with the SPACE RACE in Houston,Texas ,that's why they can't hear because of the rockets noise when they take off! So it might NOT be the CLOSE-N-Play !
