You're right Mike, that cd did not get any airplay, and Kim, Intimate is a very good album. Let's face it, people just love to hear Smokey's old stuff and forget the new. His new songs might not be as good as his old but give it a chance. He still sings good. ;D

That whole 'Quiet Storm' album is fantastic. Great music for cruisin', dancing, cuddling', making out with your sweetie, or whatever.... Smokey at his best.

I was just saying how smokey need to come out with another album. I love hearing the classic songs, but I'd like to hear some fresh ones.

The song "Easy To Love" is actually a pretty nice song from his 1999 "Intimate" album. I didn't really care for "Sleepin' In" too much.
Sukka - the image of playing Smokey in SoCal is just beautiful, it seems so idyllic.
I think Smokey needs to be producing some more classics for us. But if he feels like resting on his laurels, he's got so many, that it must be very comfortable to do.
If all he ever recorded was "Ooh Baby Baby" with the Miracles... he could sit back and chill, that's a formidable laurel in itself.

tanisha, it has to be done right. if you play smokey at 4 pm on friday in los angeles on the 10 freeway- it may not be as appreciated - although it may sooth you as you cruise at 5 mph bumper to bumper.
however in north san diego where i live - drive in the sun and near the beach and crank up the smokey songs - it is idyllic!

On a rainy day like this in New York, Smokey's Baby Come Close is the perfect song. ;D I forgot what sunshine is on the weekends.
