They're both good. I'd love to hear David use that voice more.

Sounds good. :wtg I can think of four back up singers he'd sound EVEN BETTER with though.

If David used that voice, he'd definitely been thought of as a deacon.
I've loved the song and think it can live again... nothing's really changed that much.
Where did David sing that?

I originally heard Stevie's version first and thought it couldn't be touched. But when I heard David's clip from the Hip-O website I new his version would probably be better; and I wasn't dissapointed. David just has that gospel sound that is so natural in a song like this. Add that with his untouchable interpretative qualities and it's a wrap. He used all the vocal power he had in this song. He goes from smooth to ruff. In the 3rd verse is when he really started gettin down."Heaven help the people with our backs against the wall/ HEAVEN!!, HEAVEN!!, help us all/mmmm help me sing the song children" He really has a strong voice. If you were like me when you first heard it you were waiting for David to scream. It just seemed necessary in a song like this. When he did scream I was completely satisfied.
