They are both very talented writers/performers... they have something in common and Babyface did write for a lot of artists and had hits with his own and the songs he wrote for others.

laface records with l.a. reid and kenneth edmunds have made a ton of $$$ off artists since the 80's. like pebbles, toni braxton, and babyface himself.
but babyface will never be a smokey.

Uh... I didn't say he had to BE Smokey and of course his songs aren't classics yet. You have to think about how people will be appreciated int he future, not just now.

That will happen with staying power. I don't think Babyface has staying power to be in a Smokey Robinson league !

babyface did a nice duet with eric clapton -if i could change the world...
but smokey was a classic already back in 1964. that's the difference.
