Very well said crella.....what happened to them is important to know.....not because I revel in others misery.....though some folks do.....but to understand how this great icon of a group fell apart. If what happened in their private lives affected the group in any way I want to know it. anything else they can keep to themselves. You make a great point about the fact that not much more dirt will fall because nobody wants to let others know how naive they were when it came to business dealings and that Berry hoodwinked a lot of them into doing his bidding. It was only after some of them got some education and realized all was not well that these things began to surface. But Berry had many of them over a barrel and just buried them when they made a stink!!!!!

which I'm re-reading (because it is now officially signed by the author! ) What? Did he write another chapter in there while he was signing it? I think he ran out of lies! :read:

Well I just finished reading the book and one thing I will say, it was written differently than I thought it would have been written. It was like the writer was kind of there during the whole deal. He spoke from Berry's point of view a lot. I actually kind of enjoyed it. It was better than I thought. Now as far as information, I didn't learn very much I didn't allready know but to quote one of our head honchos, Kalisa 2 , if you are just starting out and know nothing about Motown, this book is a great jumping off point! On that point I readily agree!!!! ;D ;D

Still reading the book its okay so far One of the things people don't remember about Motown is that they didn't discover all the groups who sang on their labels. Some groups like the Four Tops and Gladys Knight & the Pips were all ready seasoned veterans when they signed with Motown and when the business got shakey and they felt they were under paid and under apprieciated......they pretty much left with everything intact, including the name of the groupa nd all of its members.
