I have to describe everything using food metaphors. My favorite dessert is Fudge Brownie a la Mode. The brownie's gotta be hot, the ice cream's gotta be cold and when you eat both at the same time, the two temps ............ ............ in your mouth produce something a'kin to a buzz effect. I get the same feeling when listening to "Paradise." It's no big secret that I love bass singers, it's no big secret that I could do without first tenors ............... but Melvin and Eddie TOGETHER!!!!!!!!! My, my, a thing to behold! Smokey said it best ............ "Eddie WAY WAY WAY up high and Melvin WAY WAY WAY down low and all of the harmonetics in between ..................... those brothers could blow!" Of course I realize that this style of singing is a hold over from doo-wop and was nothing new when they did it, but THEY were doing it, so it was automatically better than anything done beforehand. (give my apologies to Earl, Joe) Plus ............ it is physically impossible to sill still while this song is playing. I tried it as an experiment and I hurt myself so badly I had to call in sick to work the next day.

I agree completely. "Paradise" easily outdistances everything else on that record. I've never heard a more powerful falsetto performance than Eddie's on that song. Just breathtaking...

I think it's something you can only do when you're 21 or however old he was at the time .................. I mean if you have to shave more than twice a week ........... no, not possible.

It's hard to decide. It's a collection of great singles! My favorites, "Slow Down Heart," "Farewell My Love," "May I Have This Dance," "Isn't She Pretty", and "I Want a Love I Can See."
"Slow Down Heart" - I'm a sucker for drums. It has a great rhythm and Paul puts his begging soul into it. Then there's Eddie's prominent voice in the background.
"Farewell My Love" - Fantastic album closer (although I have the CD with bonus tracks). I love the harmony and that doo-wop ending.
"May I Have This Dance" - I like Eddie's voice from start to finish. From his normal voice to his falsetto.
"Isn't She Pretty" - One name: AL
"I Want a Love I Can See" - One of my favorite Paul leads. It's the best of their early songs, in my opinion. Great beat, rhythm, lyrics, and that "a-aoha" thing they do. I'm sorry Melvin missed it.

I want a Love I Can See. This song was under rated, but when you sit and listen there is a lot going on vocally in the background. Paul knew how to work vocals. Be it lead or background.
