(sigh)...First...no one is trying to curtail your free speech. You are welcome to say whatever you wish, just find an appropriate place for it. That is just common courtesy. Second...No one has been glorifying Otis, just trying to get you to stop villifying him and blaming him for everything that went wrong in all the lives of the other Temptations. A snitch? The WORLD knew plenty about David Ruffin's substance abuse and wife-beating propensities before Otis ever even met Patricia Romanowski. Perhaps you don't know this because you have not been a Tempt's fan for that long, but even while he was still with the group he was known to be trouble...that has nothing to do with Otis. David's legal problems and drug battles and issues with his women were reported in the media long before Otis got the idea to write a book. Paul's drinking problem was no secret, but I don't think the world knew about his failing health...is this the dreaded secret you think needed to be kept silent? I have read most of the Motown-related books out there and every single one of them mentions problems within the Temptations, and most of them specifically mention David as being a problem. Otis had nothing to do with that. Denying that Otis was not the responsible party is not by any means "glorifying" him. If anyone indulges in glorifying anyone, it is you worshipping David. I think that David had some less-than-favorable personality quirks that would render him unworshippable. I would rather adore someone for being a responsible member of a group than to worship and vehemently defend a man who was on many occasions violent toward women and a very irresponsible adult. It is obviously that you have never had your head caved in by your husband or you might think twice about whom you choose to defend. I don't think any one is making you to be a punch ball. But your refusal to "learn" the truth or even tolerate a different opinion to your own makes you an easy target. If you don't want to be a target, don't make yourself one. You get what you ask for. And shall I assume that the "broken ribs" comment was directed at me? No, the broken ribs were not directd at you ... I forget to mention that I also refuse to be counseled by someone who apparently has not a good hand at picking the right men. That description would rather fit Brunnen's looser category ... Not everyone who calls you dahlin' and sweetheart in public uses the same flattering names for you in private. AK--you don't know anything about me, much less have the knowledge to criticize my taste in men. I have no intention of "counseling" you, I just think you are getting your panties in a wad unnecessarily. Why don't you do us all a favor and adjust your medication? I personally don't care what people who don't know me call me...I know the truth, the people who really know me think I am fabulous...what more do I need? ;D

Not everyone who calls you dahlin' and sweetheart in public uses the same flattering names for you in private. Oh come on you two, that's enough. 1.) It's Anna's right to "worship" anybody she chooses, just as it is Anna's right to wonder why we worship Dennis or any other Temptation for that matter. It doesn't matter where we read, learn, or whom we talk to, there WAS some good in David. Even the negative stuff you know about David whether it be wife beating, drugs, a typical butthole, whatever, She finds the good in him (as I do, Genna's book made me feel no different)-- You should repect her as a fellow temptation fan. I'm not telling her who to worship, but if she feels Otis is unworthy, she needs to LOOK CLEARLY at David, that's all. I don't make a habit of judging people or telling them what to think, but I do make a habit of having an open mind and that's what I think the ultimate goal is here...as much as that seems to be a completely lost cause.

I can sympathize with ((Grams)) in her feeling. I did it too myself for a very long time. The only difference is, I learned that just because I felt a certain way about a certain temptation, doesn't mean we all do. I recognize and admire that personal growth in yourself that has shown itself right here on the board Others here might do well to learn from your good example. If this hadn't been a recurring theme here over the past two + years, I might empathize a bit more . AK knows exactly what response those continued and constant derogatories will bring on... yet she persists. and you know the other boards are laffing their heads off.. cuz I bet they been told... and came over. my my my 12 guests at one time last nite.. or was that today... gee they must like us over here..makes a person wonder if there is an alternative reason to keep bringing up the same old crap

I don't know about everyone else, but I feel like singing:
"And CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN YOU FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL THE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE TONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT"?
C'mon, everybody!

Being a Disney fanatic, couldn'y help it; & will sing with ya : [Timon:] I can see what's happ'ning [Pumba:] (What?) [Timon:] And they don't have a clue! [Pumba:] (Who?) [Timon:] They'll fall in love and here's the bottom line Our trio's down to two [Pumba:] (Oh.)
[Timon:] The sweet caress of twilight There's magic everywhere And with all this romantic atmosphere Disaster's in the air
[Choir:] Can you feel the love tonight? The peace the evening brings The world, for once, in perfect harmony With all its living things
[Simba:] So many things to tell her But how to make her see The truth about my past? Impossible! She'd turn away from me
[Nala:] He's holding back, he's hiding But what, I can't decide Why won't he be the king I know he is The king I see inside?
[Choir:] Can you feel the love tonight? You needn't look too far Stealing through the night's uncertainties Love is where they are
[Timon:] And if he falls in love tonight It can be assumed His carefree days with us are history In short, our pal is doomed
Lol. Told ya. =)

Can this thread die now, please? This thread and the other one in the "Miniseries" board are nearly one and the same now. What was somewhat amusing...well...isn't anymore. Onward and upward...
