"Papa Was A Rollin' Stone" is the single best 12-minute song by anyone. Ed Can't disagree. My fave Temps long songs: 1. Papa 2. Smiling Faces 3. Masterpiece ...and treated us like dirt...

The Tempts did Smiling Faces, on "Sky's the Limit". I think that's the one being discussed on this thread. LOL, I think everybody in the world (at Motown) probably did a version.

I will always think David did it best ... Cuz he starts it out good ... I don't know if it is the same as the rest of em ... but I like how he does it .. "I've heard alot of songs, and I've sang alot of songs, But none of em really came right out and called a spade a spade, and this song has a messege, and the messege is that, that it's almost an impossible task to tell which of your friends smile is really a mask ... Dig it" ... I don't know why but the way he delivers it makes it worth listening to ;D
