All5voices,
You said it all. There are few albums where I like all the songs as much as I like all of these. I was amazed myself by how much I liked the whole album.
It's that unique Temptation sound, and it's today. I realize that sounds contradictory, but I do not feel a contradiction. Take what's good from the past and put it in the present and future with what's going on there. I wouldn't want to cook on a wood-burning stove, but I'd like the food to taste as good as people thought it did with a wood-burning stove.
I'm going to write Motown and tell them to get on the ball. Oh, I know some of you will laugh, but I firmly believe the individual cannot wait for someone else to do his/her job. The Temptations have done a fantastic job. Now it's my job as a fan to say, "Congratulations!" and do my job to support them.
To sit around and gripe and say, "Motown is not doing anything" is for the birds. I cannot help what Motown does, but I can help what I do. The Tempts could have said, "Oh, well, Motown won't do anything to push this album, why should we even try?" But they didn't. They put out a fantastic album.
It's all a matter of each person doing a quality job. The composers wrote good songs; the musicians did a fantastic job (love that jazz beat), the Temptations were the equal of the Classic Five, the critics all said, "Congratulations, well done, Temptations!"
And I bought five copies, some to give to friends. I tell everyone about it. And now I shall do more.
LEGACY is FANTASTIC!

I think this cd proves that the Tempts are STILL TEMPTIN' ROUND HERE. I really hope this group of Tempts STAY TOGETHER and prove ALL THE WRONG PEOPLE who've doubted them that they are SOMETHING SPECIAL. They NEVER LET YOU DOWN and continue to make sweet romantic sounds that are so easy to MAKE LOVE TO THE MUSIC. If ever the Tempts need a staunch ally to defend the merits of this cd, BABY ITS ME. I thank you Temptations for this cd and all of the past musical journeys you have taken me on. YOU ARE SO NECESSARY IN MY LIFE. Oh by the way I also like MR. FIXIT and WHY CAN'T WE BE LOVING FRIENDS.

I'll be honest. While I like the CD and it is pleasant to listen to, very little of it really stuck with me. "Fifty-Fifty Love" was just putrid and easily the worst thing on the CD. It's the kind of disposable faceless auto-track that any marginally competant R&B vocal group could have done. It's also essentially the work of two vocalists - Terry & GC. Terry's doing most if not all the backgrounds and it sounds very nice, I guess. It just isn't very substantial. I'm also having trouble buying the line, "Sho' Nuff got a love jones for ya". Every time I heard Terry sing that line, I have to laugh. It just doesn't fit him. Sorry...LOL! "Something Special" is a much more well-written song and the production is great but equally faceless. There's nothing even remotely Temptations about it. Any R&B vocal group could have done it and they would have done just as good a job on it. "You are Necessary In My Life" has a great start to it. It's nice to hear them singing together in the studio again. They do it so rarely these days. Yeah it's processed but it sounds good and they can probably do it live (have they?). The rest of it, though, just sounds, I dunno, odd. My problems with that song are more production flaws than anything else. The first thing I would have done is brought in a real drummer instead of using the machine. The drums have no weight and a drum set would have taken care of that. I also think they should have used a real string section and gotten rid of that horrible string synth. If you're going to use a synth that way, use it in conjunction with the string section to make the sound bigger - not instead of. Blah, blah, blah, shut up, Ed. I know, I know.... Anyway, I'll spare you the song-by-song drivel that I'm tempted to go into... Certainly everything sounds nice. By and large, it's all well executed and the vocals sound good - processed but good. It's just that it all sounds a little too faceless to me. I know that a lot of you hear things in this CD that are very Temptation. All I hear is a very capable R&B group working on the R&B assembly line and getting it right about half of the time while creating very little memorable material when all is said and done. Have mercy on me.... Ed

Ed, that is exactly what I want to hear! I grew up during the era of hand-made music, and I am missing it in most of the new songs. A good drummer (don't ask me how I would define one) gets my attention the second I spot him. Go listen to "Get ready" that's what I mean by a drummer who knows what he's doing (to me at least).

No mercy needed Ed. We aren't all going to have the same opinion Buddy. I hear you. And I understand where you are coming from.

I MUST ADMIT "STAY TOGETHER" IS A HIT---G.C. WAS TRYING TO OUTDO RON BY SINGING A "DAVID PEASTON" TYPE FALSETTO AT THE END. I ALSO LIKE "SOMETHING SPECIAL"--JOE SOUNDED TOO MUCH LIKE MELVIN FRANKLIN IN THE BEGINNING, BUT IT'S ALL GOOD.
