My legacy favorites are: 1) Stay together 2) Still tempting 3) Somethin special 4) You are necessary in my Life 5) Mr. fix it 6) Baby it's me These songs are all hits for this group. GC is no David or Dennis he has his own thing. With time he will come into his own. For a truly great escape listen to this cd with headphones. Sit back and relax. Let the group just sing and take you somewhere else.

I have favorite tracks, but the funny part is that the tracks that aren't my favorites are the favorites of someone else. And they'll talk about them and praise them while I am thinking that my favorites are the very best.
My conclusion? The whole CD is tremendous! Something for everyone.

I like 50-50 Love, Baby its me, Loving Friends and You're so necessary. Odd...three out of those four have songwriters I've always liked in the past...50-50 and Baby its me being penned in part by one C. Grant ;D, with Loving Friends having that obvious Woodson touch.

Interesting................since this C. Grant has supposedly said he wants nothing to do with Otis and his group yet he penned two songs and another former member Mr. Woodson seems to harbor no grudges as well having had one of his songs on the cd. Could the rumors of so called hostility between these people be over exaggerated and we find that business is business?
I believe ED said that the cd is floundering. I have heard that from other places as well. But I have some questions. First Did Live At San Pablo chart? Does it really matter? And when a group af damn near 60 year old men release a cd with not nearly the publicity that say a Rueben Studdard gets and yet still finds it way on the charts be considered a failure? Is there any other group with the same demographics on the chart at this time? I'm beginning to believe that some people are just not Temptation fans..........I heard these same things about Awesome yet I was able to find some songs on there that were pleasing to my ear. To say this cd is crap is just BS. No it ain't Outkast or Jay Z or Beyonce but they don't have the machinery that those folks have and they don't appeal to the same people. The market for groups like the Temptations are not people who hear a song on the radio and jump up and run to the store and buy it...........Those days are over for people like me.........Many will never buy it but if they hear it will like it.......... This is not the greatest cd ever put down but it is a pretty good offing from a good group of singers and I can live with it. I haven't had anyone tell me to turn it off when they hear it......... ;D

And while we are on this subject...........if and when the Review comes out with a cd and someone calls it some of the names Legacy has been called, I hope they are not attacked and called things like they don't know good music when they hear it. I hope that should it not chart as well as the Temptation cd, that no one will come on and say the charts don't know what they're talking about. Its okay to have an opinion about the cd but what I find disturbing is that so called Temptation fans can not find one song on this cd that is good. I don't get it. The cd is just not that bad.

While Motown has been accused of not promoting this CD properly (now, I myself walked into a Coconuts music store the day Legacy was released, and walked smack into a HUGE display of several rows of Legacy, right in the only entrance to the store), someone has put some word out there in various markets. I doubt the Review will be fortunate to have that much a "machine" behind them if they do manage to get a CD put out. This is no reflection on their talent...you know I'm a huge Review fan and in fact plan to see them in the near future. I'm just being a realist....the market isn't there(IMO) for 60+ y.o. soul singers other than a chosen few. So far I haven't seen evidence that Dennis or his group are one of those chosen few. b They'll get MY music $, but that's not enough for any of them to retire on ;D

But you make a valid point. That's what I was doing.........being a realist. I want both groups to go double or triple platinum. Is it gonna happen? Not on this planet or in this lifetime. Does it mean the music isn't good? Of course not. I just don't want to see anybody set themselves up for disappointment. I understand the economics of today's music industry. Music stores like Wherehouse music closing down everyday as we speak. Piracy, politics, lack of publicity, no radio, no tour, people movin out........people moving in ;D ;D ;D ;D You get the picture..........it will just as tough for the Review as it is for the Temptations no matter how good a cd they make.

Amen Aba. The Review is reviewing the same music. So the market is going to be about the same. Maybe there are a couple of younger men in The Review. And the same can be said for the Tempts. They (Temptations) have carved a nitch for themselves, but I believe it is the same nitch, The Review will end up gleaning from. Some will like both. Dennis carries a lot of history and talent with him. "Don't look any further" was a great song to me. If I can hear him sing his leads, I'm happy. He also does a great job on David's songs. And the Temptations do a great job in revisiting the "old hits". But I like the new things that each configuration puts out. I always find something pleasing to my ear. Motown isn't going to do the same type of promotion for them as they would the newer artist. You would never see the Tempts in a nearly naked, greased up, grind-a-thon video. First of all, it's not their style, but second the market they appeal to would not have it. Both groups have something in rare supply today. TALENT, they can actually sing. There is room enough for both. Legacy sold me, but like I said, I would buy Dennis as well. I'll admit, I look forward to the new music no matter what the configuration.

You have to look at whose in charge of the industry today, even at Motown. Its a young person who did not grow up with this music and whether they just tolerate the fact that this old ass group wants to put out cds and lets them do it with the least amount of cost possible, or they just don't really know the market for music like this. I am inclined to think both. I mean, who do you market this music to. The old folks aren't the bying public anymore and the young people ani't into it like they are their own music. So then it becomes a problem for the group in that if they want to sell, they have to find a way to get the young people to buy it. Caught between a rock and a hard place is what I see........... ;D

I like almost all of them. I like the tribute to the legacy of the Temptations 'Still Tempting'. also:
'Round Here' reminds me of how they would've sounded if David were still in the group beyond 1968 when they began do message/social commentary songs.
'Stay Together' I keep listening to this one. It's a good 'grown folks' club dance song. My favorite part is right when the breakdown comes in and Ron kinda does a Prince riff then Joe gets a little play.
'Something Special' a very radio friendly song. But Motown hasn't done a good job of promoting this. I haven't even heard the 'Tom Joyner Morning Show' playing it yet. I love the E-Grand piano sound here.
'Fifty-Fifty Love' I can hear this with Terry and Bo singing lead too.
'Love To The Music' Another 'stepping' song. This is a great addition to the genre of song. This is in the same mold as the R.Kelly songs that have people getting up. It sounds almost something that the O'Jays would do with Walter Williams singing lead. This song should have a music video filmed with Chicago steppers in it.
'You Are Necessary In My Lift' I love this song too. I like to sing it. It like a song that could've been done on a David solo album. I also hear Theo doing this song. Maybe even Richard. This song has the best backgroung harmony - kind of like the 'For The Lovers' Only' CD. When GC started singing after the 16 second loop, he reminds me so much of David.
'Mr. Fix It' This song sounds like it could've even fit on 'Phoenix Rising' or Ear-Resistible'. I guess I could hear Bo singing with this with Terry. Joe sounds so much like Melvin on this one. I know it's hard for us to admit it. But we really like someone when they remind us of one of the Hall of Fame 6.
'Baby It's Me' GC really put's his stamp on this one. It's his, that is until Terry takes it to the bridge.
'Why Can't We Be Lovin Friends' Tell me can't you just hear this song being recorded in the Ali/Richard era. This song gives me the feel of a Temptations song that is on a movie soundtrack in the 80's. That's not saying anything bad at all. It just gives me that feeling. GC really gets into that Ali/David mode after the breakdown with those high note riffs and ad libs.
'Never Let You Down' I can hear Dennis singing this one - maybe in the 90's if he were still in the group. I could also hear this song having been on the 'Phoenix Rising' CD.
***Tell me what you agree with in my little review of the songs I like the most. Yeah, Yeah, I know it's most of them.***
