10-b in 1967, Aretha took “Respect” to the respectable position of #1 on the charts, but two years earlier what singer took it into the top 40? I seriously need to learn how to read. I thought it said two years later and my head was about to explode because I wanted to say Otis Redding, but the man died in '67, so that was impossible. Then again, 2Pac's still got records, so...
Anyway, is it Otis Redding?

Good job, tdallas, Classic, rufffan, IRLM, Elvis, Jay and Peach!! Rufffan and Jay, you stole my "extra credit" question ;D ;D, since "Derek and The Dominoes" (the name used on the recordeding) of course is AKA Mr. "Slow Hand" Eric Clapton! Sooooo...for the bonus question ...on #7b...which one was formerly married to Dennis Edwards? (yaaaay, back on Tempts topic!! )

Not exactly. Derek and The Dominoes(I spelled it wrong), was an actual group FEATURING EC. It wasn't him with a made up name.
